  Who will be da answer man!


Da area dat I live in has never in da past been to be known as for pesky critters.  Unfortunately in da last few years dat's changed and getting worse. They've started ta come around here at night. I'm talkin skunks, coons, & fox.(mostly night time pests) Daytime it's da dam squires. Problem is dat-der diggin holes mostly under da bird feeders. Also diggin at da patio edges.
We adppted an outdoor female (outdoor only) ferral cat and it comes ta chow between 2:00 am & daybreak.  I do not leave food out untill she shows up and remove da food plate as soon as she's done eatin.

I don't want ta get rid a da bird feeders an have pole blockers so da critters can't get ta da seeds.  However da dang birds love ta thrash true da seeds and day spill on da ground.
I've trown mothballs around da areas in hopes dat it would discourage da critters but dat did nuttin. Any intelligent ideas would be appreciated???

PS. We recently had a large locus bunch emerging and dat could have some impact as they are very tasty I guess! (you'll have to ask Glenn bout dat)

Get them in a smaller trap. If they can't lift their tail, they can't spray.........I've been told.

i've been told to put a blanket or something over the trap. if they cant see they dont spray!!!!!!!!

That is obvious Glenn.  So we Union Guys already to do the blanket or towel over the trap.  Also have a rope already installed on the cage too.  Then you just go lower it into a river or lake and drown it.  That's how us Union guys do it.

Are there dogs in the area?.  Some of my suggestions are maybe not compatible with roaming dogs.

If-in you'll notice ... Many of my posts are made in da wee hrs. of da mornin. Dat's because after getting up at 1:30 am fur over 20 yrs of guiding. My body clock tells me ta wake up if I'm goin ta work er not. Dare-fore I feed da cat and pee in da wee hours of da morning.

Sometimes in da wee hours of da morning I notice dat we (Borgie & I) have ta make wee at da same time.

To get back on topic ..... Dis mornin I noticed sumpin interesting. I always figured dat da squirrles were purdy clever. If you remember I had mentioned havin placed mothballs in specific strategic  areas to repell critters from diggen. Well, I looked out da window and a squirrel had picked up a mothball and was rolling it wit his paws in his mouth. Looked just like he was peelin a nut shell. He promptly dropped it after gettin a taste and was rubbin his mouth wit his paws.
I would a figured dat da smell would a been enough.

Believe me, mothballs don't work for skwirrels.  I've seen them play soccer with 'em. Neither does red pepper; I swear they scooped it up and sprinkled it on my 'maters they were gobbling up.    Only thing that works on them is a flying lead greeting.
