      Turning 18 in the middle of hunting season. :scratch:

Q: My son turns 18 in the middle of the firearms deer season. Since he will have a youth license from the beginning of the season, does he need to purchase a regular firearms license to continue hunting after his birthday?

A: No. Birthday and changes of residency happen routinely during license periods. Under Minnesota Statute 97A.411, a license that was lawfully obtained continues to be valid for the remainder of the license period, even despite a change in age (birthday), residency (moving out of state) or student status (completing college, etc). Your son can continue to hunt under his originally issued license for the rest of the deer season.
