Next up...  Tom Izzo's Big 10 Tournament Champion Michigan State Spartans
 :help:
It was nice to see the Gophers play well down the stretch and earn their way into the tournament.  We are more used to seeing them sitting on "the bubble" with a 70-30 chance of playing in the NIT.

Still a tournament win should help Richard Pitino build the program.

Good luck, Gophs.

The Gophs would need their best game of the season and the Spartans would probably need to be a bit flat.  But that is what you ask for this time of year.  Give your best game or y'er out.  That's why they play 'em and that's what makes the brackets so fun. :happy1:

Holy Moly!  15th seed Bradly is only down by 1 against 2nd seed Michigan State with 5 minutes to go in the 2nd half!   :bonk:

Bradley is hitting 50% of their 3's compared to 22% by Michigan State.

Thought Izzo's bunch was gonna lose for a while too.  :pouty: It looked like he wanted to take a swing at their freshman that starts during the 1 timeout in the 2nd half. :tut: Some of those coaches are so intense :angry2: I don't know how they don't get carried off the court on a stretcher sometimes. :doofus:

I was hoping Michigan St. would biff it but alas. I was a little surprised that Izzo didn't retire after last season with all the sex scandal stuff that was swirling around like it was. That's Michigan St. tho where problems like that just magically disappear! Here at MN, not so much.

Great win for the Gophers today tho! Hoping Murphy's injury doesn't have major implications. Be nice too if Stockman felt better by Saturday with the bench as short as it is.

Well, that didn't end well but it wasn't unexpected either sans Murphy, Stockman & Curry. Great that they made it this far tho and thumped Louisville in the process. Give them a decent point guard or two for next year, get Curry healthy and there's the nucleus of a decent team with Kalscheur, Oturu and Coffey coming back. Omersa got some valuable minutes in as well so he could contribute.

Yeah Dotch, it was tough to watch. Without Murphy they were doomed anyway. They finished the season off pretty good though after the rough stretch they had mid season. Been a better than usual tourney for the BIG 10 with 7 of the 8 winning the 1st round & still having 5 in it. :happy1:  A little leery of the Hawkeye's game today too as they shot it so good in the last 1 & they haven't been very consistant lately either.

Your spidey senses must've been tingling there Gunner!  :rotflmao: It did take TN an OT to get the job done tho. When we came in from shearing and saw the halftime score we pretty much wrote the game off. The Big 10 has had a pretty good tournament all things considered.

I think  the Hawkeyes just ran out of gas after coming back & getting it even. They had 2 quick chances to get the lead & didn't convert those. They looked pretty flat after that. :pouty:

Gunner should appreciate this one! Brad Davison, the union thug version of Big 10 hoops (sorry glenn, couldn't resist  :rotflmao:) finally got suspended for his on the court in front of god and everybody antics, in the form of nut punches, tripping and flops. The latest nut punch on Connor McCaffery must've been the straw that broke the camel's back & convinced the Big 10 this probably should be dealt with before someone gets hurt or kills Davison. What a tool. A clip of some of his finest efforts:

Up until the suspension, his knucklehead coach Gard was still defending the little terd! He's been mum ever since tho. He's got enough problems with Kobe King leaving the program. May be trouble brewing in Bucky Land...

He definitely cost 'em the game against the Hawks IMO as it was only 2 pts with a little over a minute left before his flagrant intentional & 5 pts, < 1 min after. Hawks got a stop on their next hurried possession, game over. :happy1: Maryland tonight, out there, would be a big win.

Good luck! The Hawkeyes have far exceeded expectations after some earlier season oopsies. The Gophers have some similarities. They've played a tough schedule. After watching their first several games, I was ready to write them off. They've pulled off several upsets tho, lost a close one to Purdue on the road then laid an egg against Michigan St. at home They'll have their work cut out for them tonite against the Illini in the House of 'Paign. Not expecting positive results.

I see it didn't go very well for the Gophers either. Garza had foul trouble, they didn't shoot the 3 very good again, & got beat on the boards too. It's really tough on the road in the Big 10 this year.

No they didn't. Shooting a blistering 3 for 19 (15.8%) from 3 pt. land and being out rebounded 45 to 36 isn't going to get it it done. Factor in the home cooking officiating and you'd better be up by 10 or more to win on the road in the Big 10 no matter who you play. On the bright side since Brad Davison is suspended for tomorrow's Michigan St. game, everyone's family jewels should remain intact!

Good win over Illinios for the Hawks yday! :happy1: Garza got their bigs in foul trouble & had 25/10. They shot the 3 better as McCaffrey even had a couple. It got pretty interesting at the end  as 1 of their assistants got in Fran's face & must of said some  :bs: as McCaffrey got  :mad1:, told the team to head for the locker room instead of shakin their hand.

There's that squeaking noise again...

I watched a lot of that game Gunner & again was impressed with how IA managed to pull it off. Saw that exchange afterwards too. A lot of chippy garbage & poor sportsmanship going on all over. Speaking of that, I see Bucky found a way to beat Sparty w/o anyone getting tripped or punched in the berries. Coach Gard is still covering for Davison tho, making him out to be the victim. Be interesting to see what's in store for him at The Barn Wed. nite. Talk of people wearing jocks & nut cups on the outside of their clothing or on their heads. Bet they won't show much of The Barnyard on TV if it happens.

Watched the Gopher women yesterday afternoon after the IA game. Double OT and they won it. Needed it to give them any chance of making the NCAA's. Looks like they're getting over the shock of Pitts pulling the pin. Taiye Bello, one of the twins who protested Pitts suspension had 19 pts. & 22 boards. Jasmine Powell who went to the same HS Pitts did also had 19 pts.

Also watched Gopher hockey Fri. & Sat. nite sweep Bucky in WI. Looks like WI's hockey program is in the toilet, altho they still pack the arena as opposed to what's been happening at Mariucci. Thanks Big 10!  Gophers are a young team and looks like they're starting to gel. Like their toughness, taking the puck to the net rather than making 15 pretty but meaningless passes. And they play defense rather than standing around watching the puck. Motzko may be turning the corner in year two.
