Question for everyone. I have often wondered is it illegal to make a food plot on public land?

I am not talking about getting out the atv or tilling up a 1 acre site. More like, no till, throw and grow seeds in a selected area. I understand that I have no exclusive right to hunt the area.

I'm wondering if I could throw out some clover without getting in trouble.

what type of public land?   Wildlife management area?

On some WMAs the state contracts with farmers to plant crops and leave a third for wildlife....

I sure ain't no expert on this stuff, but from the DNR regs....

#    Food plots are not allowed on any public or private land,

including forest industry land, without permission. If

permission is not obtained, it is trespass.

That is what I suspected, but thought I'd ask the question here to see if others had more knowledge on the subject. Thanks

I like the way your thinking.  :happy1:

As I have shared before, we do own 40 acres surrounded by State Forest land. We have cleared and planted two clover food plots over the last two years on our land.

What if a new bag of clover had a hole in it as I walked out to our 40 acres (across the State Forest land)?

We threw around the idea a few times but we weren't sure how the plates would make it to any size without getting chewed up before growing to much. We were pretty sure we could not fence it in!
Cooking over a open fire is all fun and games until someone losses a wiener!
