I recently took a job in Baxter and we sold our Prior Lake house and moved up here.  We're across the street from White Sand Lake.  Can't wait for spring to get out on some open water.  Any suggestions on good lakes to hit in this area?  Thinking about doing the walleye opener on the Whitefish chain.

Gull and Pelican aren't bad for Walleye as well. Pan fishing, Mission lakes, Hubert, Lower Cullen are worth trying. All the boat launch's on opener can be crazy.  Hit up some of the bait stores like Dave's Sportsland for info on lakes as well.  Good Luck.
Cooking over a open fire is all fun and games until someone losses a wiener!

And I believe the Ol" Mississippi up in that area is still decent for fishing.  There are many good lakes for all kinds of fishing.

We went for a ride yesterday out toward Pillager and then down around Camp Ripley.  'Saw a couple interesting non-descript lakes over that way.  I like these small out of the way places.  Hoping to try the river for smallmouth and walleye this year.

there is a state park on the river down 371 where they have fishing areas and it's fun..  it's been a long time since I did it but I'm sure it's all the same!!!
a bad day of fishing is still better than a good day at work!!

I haven't done any river fishing in decades.  That sounds like a good time.
