:reporter;  Update as of 4pm on 5-4-2020    Boundary Waters Canoe Area

 :coffee: .....
The Forest Service issue two different memos this afternoon:

1) They change the fire ban to allow stoves.

2) They have moved out overnight camping permits to start on May 18th to correspond with the Governor's stay at home order. Day use permits are allowed.

This is frustrating that they waiting to the final hour to make this decision, :banghead: but they are in uncharted territory as to how to respond.

Safety and Responsibility Reminders  Please take the following reminders into consideration as you plan and depart on trips:

* Please wear a mask and use hand sanitizer or frequently wash your hands during your travels to and around the BWCA. This helps to avoid catching and spreading the virus.

* Please wear your life jacket and be safe on the water and in camp. An organized search and rescue effort risks other peoples health.

* Be careful with fire, saws, and axes.

* Please leave no trace. No one wants to pack out your garbage especially this year. Bring extra garbage bags. :happy1:
