Geocaching is an outdoor treasure-hunting game in which the participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers (called "geocaches" or "caches") anywhere in the world. A typical cache is a small waterproof container containing a logbook and "treasure", usually toys or trinkets of little monetary value

So in a way us icefisherman do this already and don't even know it!  We use the GPS to find a predetermined spot, put in a minnow and hopefully pull out a fish!

Actually the scouts have a geocache up at camp-they love it!  It's especially fun if you get people from different areas/geographic locations doing this.  You could get memorbilia from a place you've never been to-for instance a coin/token from Paul Bunyanland or somewhere.

Sounds like when I wanted to trade boxes with someone. No takers on that but easier as it just involves mailing the stuff to someone.
