Ok I need some advice here.  We have a 55" Vizio flat screen TV and love it.  But it is getting darker at times.  LOL  SO if we get a Smart TV can I sit and do the free Youtube browsing without having hdmi cables hooked up.   :rotflmao:  I imagine so and may be a stupid question but???  That's the whole idea right.  We do Netflix, I like to watch stuff on youtube online for free.  I see a Samsung curved screen, 65 inch (I have to measure) 4K, wireless, USB, ethernet, Smart TV with Alexa which I don't need.  Is that what a guy needs or is something missing here?

Wasn't long ago I learned how to "cast" You Tube videos to the TV. I have a Samsung I bought last fall. The damn things are dirt cheap these days. I can remember paying $3500 for a Sony Bravia flat screen many years ago.

Since it is wireless I guess the laptop will partner with it so all should be good.  ??

I remember the days where I was the channel changer, with all 4 channels once we moved to the cities up on mille lacs we only had two channels ,old man only aloud us  a couple hours of tube time, none wilst eating dinner, had to sit back 10' from the tube to save our eyes...,tough old fart growing up actually he still is just doesn't know it any longer, now we have smart t.v.'s,hell I  finally upgraded my flip cell phone to a droid, nothin like re-inventing the wheel for us old timer's.

Trying to renew my driver's license which expires in july, what a shete show, gotta email your request, then make an appointment to come in dang local DMV is booked thru may, can't talk to a person all recorded messages, wonder what the senior crowd does w/o email or internet?

Barry does your laptop act as a hot spot or send out a WIFI signal? We have a wireless router at our house that allows the smart TV's and smart phones to hook to the internet wirelessly.

I do have a pretty good router.  I can even have my laptop out in the garage and it reaches there.  SO all of that should work great with a smart TV right?

Yes sir. The TV will hook up to the wifi just like your computer or smart phone.

:happy1: Same here, wireless router & wifi, only way to go IMO. Specially if you have more than 2-3 smart devices in the house very often.

Just an FYI on snow's situation that may be helpful guys is that when you're dealing with those frustrating recorded messages & you really need to talk to a live person. Instead of entering any of the #'s they suggest just hit 0 & most of the time you will get somebody to answer. A little secret our local Credit Union down home let is in on when my brother had a problem with a credit card. Give it a try, it's worked for us.

Yeah, it is crazy the amount of paperwork da women have to do for the enhanced DL. Have to show everything from birth to current.

JB why the real I.D. license? just because or are you flying somwhere? FYI if you plan on air travel its a alot easier to obtain a passport which is allowed for air travel.

Snow. The enhanced license will get you across the border when driving. If they ever open the border again.

No DMV in Ia so when I renewed mine last year all I needed was my birth certificate & my checkbook , SS card would've worked too. Walked in the Co Treasurer's office, show 'em my papers, & write a check. Got my Real ID in the mail ~ a week later. Took care of it about a month early :happy1:, which was February, so the 1st shutdown had not been started yet. Different story this year with new tags, Treasurer's office wasn't even open & they had a drop box in the entrance. I did it online instead, took 10 minutes maybe, had those in the mail in around a week too.
