Just a matter of time beforre cancel culture changes this name, but in the mean time, these little pests are starting to show already in my area.

neighbor has these beetle traps out,so his traps attracts my bumper crop,100's and 100's he dumps out every evening, lucky man, however he had some help yesterday...

I was watching a robin perched on one of these hanging traps gorging itself on these beetles attracted to whatever is used to bait these traps,

Animals are amazing,it's interesting how they figure thing's out.Anyone else seeing these pesty critters in they're yard? I noticed these beetles really like raspberry bushes.

I live in the northern suburbs and they absolutely smash the raspberry bushes. I was going to start a spraying regiment because it was getting so bad, but I'm moving now so its a moot point.

They decimate the Birch trees here. Hundreds of skeletonized leaves on the ground at the neighbor's. I've done pre-emergence lawn sprays for 3 years with no luck; this year I put out the Bag-a-bug pheromone scent traps downwind, even though some say it'll just attract more.  The bag is filling half up about every two days, so they seem to be working. None spotted on my birches yet...got my fingers crossed.

I have  a pest control customer that came out to my place,he said spray's need to make individual contact with each insect to be effective rather the best defense is a soil repellant late summer to attack the larva in your garden.I had it done for two years straight,me thinks B.S as these creatures are coming back every summer,he also told me let the neighbor use traps his traps will clean out the area for us neighbors....lol I'm all in,seems to be working.

Have seen no buck fugs here, yet. They got as close as Owatonna last year that I'm aware of.

I sprayed those last 2-3 years in late May and July, as advised by U of MN. Not a bit of difference. I think they fly in on JAL or the Kyoto Express.
Just had a bunch of these float down from the crown of my birch tree.....so it looks like I've got 'em again. Was hoping not, as with the broiling dry Summer we've had so far, and a week of 90's headed at us again, my Birch's are gonna be dropping early as it is.

Our river bitch (thanks JB!  :happy1: :rotflmao:) is mostly yellow. Think it's got bacterial leaf scorch, one of those slowly debilitating diseases that'll eventually kill the tree. Knowing the dink who's no longer in business we got the tree from, that's not surprising. Unfortunately looks like it infected the pin oak across the driveway too. Like I said, knowing the dink we got the river bitch from...

I don't see those here in northern MN. I get Sap or Picnic Beetles. Especially in my raspberries. I have to remind my grand kids to look inside the berry to check for them.

Japanese beetles have been part of the MN pest population for quite some time. Back in '79 or '80 we brought back strawberries & blueberries from trials at the U of M's station in Becker. We also had Japanese beetles as hitchhikers in the coolers. Ick.
