My grandmother had several varieties.  Cortland, Macintosh,  Harrelson, but my favorite was sweat 16.

On the spendy side but been hitting "honey crisp" lately as my apple tree's didn't produce this year...

Apple crisp? great sweet treat, local apple farm has they're own bakery, couple little old farm gals whipping up all kinds of homemade goodies, apple crisp, pies, turn over's etc. perfect solution for us single guyz that don't bake.

We have a sweet 16 tree, love them but they sure don't hang on to the tree very well. Neither do the Cortland for that matter.

Honeygold are still my absolute fave.    I had a total crop failure this year.   Might have to do with that late frost..

Gotta get out to Sekaps...

Del had no crop failure. His apples are hauled away by deer, rocky racoon, winnie-the-pooh, and his neighbors when he's up at his palace.  ;)

Same with our Haralson tree. After outdoing itself last year, it blossomed much lighter than normal but set no fruit. Heard the same from several others with Haralson trees. We got a few Firesides, a smattering of SnowSweets, and quite a few Honeycrisps. Going to pick everything this weekend. With the heat, maturities have been ahead of schedule. We'll head to the orchard on Sunday. They should have Haralsons via the rumor mill. Got the Stude back so we're due for a cruise.  :happy1:

Picked the meager apple crop last nite. Were about 10 Honeycrisp & a couple Firesides worth salvaging after the birds & ladybugs got into them. Something 4-legged must've run off with the last of the SnowSweets.  Should've picked them all a week or so ago. Did wind up with almost a 5-gallon bucket of ground falls that were too far gone to eat, not to mention full of ladybugs & picnic beetles. Certainly a disappointing apple season but sounds like we're not alone. Someone was here last weekend thinking we might have a few Haralson's to spare for a pie. We usually do but not this time around. Their trees were barren as well.
