Afternoon and early evening clouds disappeared and lots of stars made me optimistic, but 8-10 trips outside showed no lights. I did get a little excited when I saw something flicker, until I realized it was the TV screen lighting up the big trees through the living room window.
I have seen them several times. The best was spring 1996 driving between Sioux Falls and Mitchell on I90.

Saw them numerous times when I lived in ND back in the early 80's. 10 miles from town, no trees & no all nite yard light. Unfortunately the windows got frosted up when it was real cold so had to go outside. At -40 I didn't spend a long time looking at them. Warmer nites they were spectacular, rippling & changing color from green to orange.

I saw some video of the show in Iceland last night that was pretty impressive. We had a trip to Iceland planned for two weeks ago, but decided to switch to a domestic vacation, rather than risk the possibility of a two week quarantine in a foreign hotel room with nothing but room service food.
