NOW i'm not certain if this is true or not, or just another  :bs: scam to raise the price?????

I talked to the meat guy at the market the other day.  He was mad about it.  He said there were always plenty of turkeys he was told by the warehouses.  Then the thing on TV and everyone went nuts buying turkeys and now the warehouses are empty.  ???  At least that is what he said.  They will get their pre buy orders for Thanksgiving and Christmas but turkeys from 8 - 16 lbs were what people bought up.

The cork is out of the bottle now. The only thing there won't be shortages of is shortages. Buckle up, things won't get better until at least the first of the year, if then.

The Canadians said turkeys were in tight supply there for their Thanksgiving back on the 11th. Of course they weren't able to cross the border to get a lot of stuff. Had to suffer thru it eating grouse!  :rotflmao: Will have to check into the turkey situation here. Have done one on the grill every Thanksgiving for the past 30+ years. Seems a shame to break the streak but if we must, we'll have plenty to eat, no thanks to the turkey in the White House... :Turkey:

I've never been a big turkey fan but I'll pick away at it. If it comes down to doing up 3 or 4 whole chickens in the smoker then that's what we'll do. Listening to a South Dakota station on the radio last weekend they claim there just might be an alcohol shortage just in time for the holidays this year, screw the Turkey...

Brother will put 1 on the Weber & smoke it every 3-4 years. Sis has an ex-coworker that owns a BBQ joint in Austin that she'll sometimes have smoke 1 for her too. I can eat turkey sandwiches a couple times a week, easily. It's even better smomed ;) IMO.

Been deep frying our turkey for a lot of years. Gets done fast, tastes great and leaves lot of room in the oven for all the stuff the ladies make.  :happy1:

Because they are to busy shipping illegal aliens all over the country to bother worrying about shipping actual supplies.  :nerd: Luckily we have a couple in the freezer we got last year. I guess we pre horded when they were on sale.

 How big a bird, usually? The must require a BIG pot & a lot of oil? What oil do you like?  We have a couple of the big portable gas burners designed for this but just use ours for  :fish2:.

bet it dont get use much then, does it!!!!!!!!! :nerd: :nerd: :super smiley: :laughroll: :laughroll: :laughroll:

man i havent deep fried a turkey in years. got everything for it. takes alot of oil. they have pots designed for frying turkeys!!

the recommended oil is peanut oil. got make sure you dont put to much oil in the pot and make damn sure that turkey is dry. i cut the wings off and add them about 15 minutes before the bird is done!!!! i think the maximum recommended size is 15 lbs!!!!!!

:pouty: :tut: :mooning: Actually your right. :bonk:  :banghead: :doah: Did I REALLY just say that!   Even though we use it for shrimp too, a big deep fryer like that is just too much work for just 2 people & 3 or 4 fillets. When we have a company & want a fish fry is when we use it the most. Even then, we probably use it about as much as you use your landing net, glenn. :nerd:              ;) :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

We gave our old burner to Sis so she can use it for canning too. She just got a new glass top style stove & they don't usually recommend using them for canning.

Glass top stoves are nice to look at but not worth a carp for cooking.
