Report said something about a diease? they had a few 100 head in quarantine, but agreed the weak would die off but maybe this diease could wipe out the entire herd whatever it is.

Kinda like this EDH killing off all the whitetail deer in the dakota's,in  my county alone near chamberlain the sdgfp's closed whitetail deer hunting and refunded monies to folks who drew tags.,

Seem's whether it's deer,elk,buffalo,ppl,over populating= health issues

Hunters Will Help Reduce Yellowstone Bison Herd by Up to 900 Animals in Montana

Wildlife officials have agreed to reduce the Yellowstone bison herd by 600 to 900 animals this winter. They say these reductions are necessary to keep the overall population healthy, and to prevent the animals from spreading brucellosis to livestock outside of the park.

The IBMP recommended a reduction of 500 to 700 bison last winter. A comparatively low number of animals strayed outside the park’s boundaries during those months, however, and hunters in Montana only harvested 170 animals. This relatively low harvest by Montana hunters demonstrated that the agency cannot rely on hunting alone to manage Yellowstone’s bison population. Part of the problem is that there is only one small zone on the north side of the park that is open to hunting, and this causes hunters to congregate heavily in specific areas—which, in turn, forces the bison back inside of the park boundaries, where hunting is prohibited by federal law.

"but maybe this disease could wipe out the entire herd whatever it is."

This-managing Wildlife by unknown Fears.  Is causing unnecessary slaughter of everything but Wolves in just about every state. The real problem is the ranchers around the park who also wouldn't open their lands for hunting.  "Fear"-that word again. That the Bison will give their herds a disease and that they will have to destroy them all. So their keeping the numbers in the park lower so hopefully they wouldn't go wondering out of the Zoo. And then have to pay restoration for fence and stock damages to the ranchers.  Crazy cycle.
