Texas, here I come
We just entered Texas.   Hopefully I get to kill a big hog.  Wish me luck and hopefully many pictures to follow.

Dak,curious iffin your on a helo hunt/door gunner,stand or spot-n stock hunt...,can't wait for pics,what gives?,stick with a big boar,keep away from those stinky javelinas.

We're driving.  It's a high fence hunt.  500 acres.   Buck a pound live weight.  Shoot whatever you want to pay for. Tonight we will be in a stand after dark and tomorrow is spot and stalk.  We could pay 100 bucks to sit in the honey hole.  I wanted a variety.

Wives dropped us off and are going to a hotel in Gonzales.   Tomorrow they are going to magnolia farm.  It's an HGTV show with chip and Joanne Gains.  Took a quick photo before the left.

Nice setup dak....those bunks are pretty close together,boot camp style,hope no one snores or farts.... Buck/lb eh? does this include processing?

Couple years ago had a buddy on a texas hog hunt,midday setup on a elevated stand,,big group of hogs/piglets came in to the feeder,they whacked one pig then the entire gaggle of hog's,pigs and piglets attacked they're stand like mad dogs for shooting one of there's,then another day after wounding a huge hog they were tree'd by the critter,chase dogs were in tight quarters with monster hog,couldn't get another shot off.

So be mindful,carry a side arm as well,looking forward to your report/pics. Lucky  weather wise to dak,it's sub zero here in minnesota,suspect your in t-shirt and shorts,lucky you.

Ate a good breakfast and hit the brush.  Saw a bunch of little pigs.  We had a heard of 50 run at us and around us.  Brother almost got run over.  Had a bigger pig out about 75 yards and running broadside. Picked my spot and waited for him to hit the opening.   Hit was liver and he still went straight down.  Love those 243 barnes copper.  Lunch and then head back out.

It's a dollar per pound live wait.  They pick it up where it falls and skin and gut.  You have a choice of leaving hole, cutting up into 10 pieces or exchanging for frozen brats or breakfast sausage, taco meat.  The processed meat is an additional 1.50 pound of the meat taken off the carcass.

Afternoon hunt was just 4 of us walking.  Brother, friend and his daughter.  Had a blast.  I dropped a 200 pounder at 125 yards.
