  Looks a lot like a flail mower mounted so it can be used vertically to me. Would be slick for keeping trails open.

It does look like a sickle mower that cuts at odd angles. The biggest downside I can see is the initial cost and how long to get your investment back.
How often would you use it?

They are about $1,700 but would be great if you had the kind of brush that encroaches on your trails.
