To those who remembered "thankyou for the kind words"

For those who took the time to express a feeling I do appreciate it as i am sure other veterans do to and their families.
I was 18 when i was drafted (my draft # was 13). My understanding of life has changed a lot over these last 50 plus years. Living will do that with all its issues both good and bad. At that time i had no real understand of those before me and what they did.

I spent 22 months of my  life serving this country.
I consider myself lucky to have the privilege of being able to say i was a soldier, I answered the call when called. Not all have had that privilege.

If you have a chance, tell a veteran you have thought of their commitment to this country and the time they served. it is special thing for those who were able to do it.

And now  thank you. Thanks for doing that, it will mean a lot to that veteran.

I never served. I was at the tail end of Viet Nam. First let me apologize to all the veterans who had to come home to hear the vile things said and shouted at them. It was a strange time in America and some Americans took things out on kids who had no choice but to serve.

As for the vets we can only say thank-you. BTW, in my opinion war is war, you can call it a conflict to make you feel better (as the government likes to do) but it's war.

Yup thanks to all.  I call my Dad every Vets Day and thank him.  He was in Korea.  They ended the draft the year I graduated pretty much.

Same here LP,sadly my dad no longer remembers his  tour in korea these days at 94yrs old,not long ago he was full of war stories which he never talked about as we kids grew up,he took pride in the korean vetran hat I rounded up for him years back, always wore it as wearing this hat lead to meeting other vetrans and just good new  people in his life for conversation

Yupper, vets have my total respect. Used to play taps for the Legion & VFW when I was a lad. When Nam was done, I was 17. Still remember watching the helicopters being dumped in the water off the ships on TV. The draft was abolished for a few years so I didn't have to register. Felt pretty fortunate after seeing the grief from families whose sons didn't come back home alive. I've always had a special place in my business dealings with veterans, especially for Vietnam vets. Those who are still farming still get a little extra.
Time itself is bought and sold, the spreading fear of growing old contains a thousand foolish games that we play. (Neil Young)
