I graduated 50 years ago (1973) and remember many things from my youth. I remember them better than things from 5 years ago. lol
I miss good old fashion Rock & Roll, the stuff up to about the mid 80's. I miss duel exhaust sounds on the hot rods we built as kids. I miss sandlot games in the neighborhood...baseball, football, hockey even basketball at times. (never soccer) I miss not caring what was happening in government in St. Paul & Washington D.C. Most of all I miss the friends and neighbors we had growing up in the suburbs of St. Paul.

Life was simple back then, what happened?

It's amazing how our memories of our youth don't seem that far off, the good and bad. I think our careers gobbled up most of the memories and time. But every day life nowadays seem so much faster, everyone is always in a hurry. We used to play street hockey as kids and the cars coming down the road would wait until the play was over before moving,  not no more, we'd probably get run over now.

I, too, was class of '73. That was in Indiana. Classmate of mine lives in Iowa, now. We were discussing going to a class reunion. We were talking about " the good old days" and people we knew and have passed. Some good memories, some not so good. Parents, siblings, relatives. Most of them gone.

I used to be cute and adorable. Then, I had my first birthday. Been downhill ever since.

This is a good memoir of those times by a MN guy who grew up in Bloomington.

I am a 72 er.  Was just at my Dad's 90th and saw some old friends that I haven't seen for a long time.  I grew up in a very friendly town and we were all friends there.  Now we lose one a year it seems.  Hard to believe that we are getting old.  Or like I like to say early early middle age.

Spent every Summer on the farm with my dad's parents so I miss my grandmother's cooking. Five meals a day. Wheaties at 6:00, hot breakfast about 9:00, lunch at noon, sandwich's cake bars and coffee about 3:30 and dinner when we got done for the day. :happy1:
Oh yea, that cold bottle (usally 1, sometimes 2) of beer after sitting on a combine all day. :happy1: :happy1:

you fella's are old! LOL

I graduated from a "smaller" town in 1998. There are soooo many things I miss. Though somewhat addicted, I wish the internet never would have happened.

I graduated in 66. I miss the REAL Rock n Roll of the 60's. Even the Doo Wop of the 50's. I miss all the friends I had in HS and especially in college.

But most of all.....I miss my mom and dad. Gone for quite a few years now.  :pouty: :pouty:
Conservative on some things.....Liberal on others.....Sane most of the time.

Every year that goes by I miss a little bit of strength that I had the year before to do the annual chores.  I guess an easier way to say it would be muscle mass.
I also miss my kids being little, but they are still around, just in a different phase.
