Last thursday found me loading a Charter bus with 39 kids from Andover High School's Outdoor Adventures Class for a few days in the BWCAW, hiking, fishing and in general just having a great trip.

To say the fishing was great is an understatement. I ended up Catching 16 Lakers in about 5 or 6 hours of combined fishing/augering holes. It was simply nuts, my buddy Josh, who is a student in the class landed 13, with a lot people catching one or two fish. Here are the pics from my camera, I will be getting more as they roll in.

We were working anywhere from 18 feet of water to 87 feet of water and caught fish in all the depths. I was using a Kid Lizard White Tube with hand painted eyes while Josh tied on one of my Northland Slurpies! tube that also worked really well.

I've been to the bwcaw many times before but never in the blow down area, let alone an area that was simply scorched, everything was burnt, it was almost depressing witnessing natures power that for once didnt involve a trailer park. So take a look at some of the pics.

Oh I also did the polar plunge and would do it again in a second!

Chris, I'm glad you caught all those fish. sounds like it was a good time.
couple questions, where are the pictures of the kids? I mean I see a couple, but there were thirty nine kids right?
why didn't you help them out to catch fish. sounds like maybe you were kinda busy.
sounds like you just volunteered for the free bus ride.
my focus would have been to locate fish and then to set up each and every kid on top of a quality bite situation. but that's just me I guess.
tell us about the kids. we've seen enough shots of your mug.
take a kid hunting and fishing!!

THWACK KILLS!!

There was 39 kids but that doesnt mean they fished. Some went hiking, like to the Palisades to look at that view, which was awesome, I went there. Others went cross country skiing, to look at other groups camps and different scenery, One group went moose shed hunting the entire trip, the other groups, I didnt carry my camera to there groups, 6 of 8 groups had lake trout for dinner that they caught on their own. Thats the best ANY OA class has done EVER. I set up a seminar at Gander for the local high school kids to come too, we coordinated where each group was going to fish, I showed them what lures to use. What else can I do to help them? Second, I was only on this trip in case someone got hurt or needed something because it got wet, or whatever the case may be. I cant hold there hand to catch a fish and the instructor didn't want me to either.
