2023 deer season.

I especially remember the part where dad impressed upon me that I should never leave any fingerprints on any metal before putting the gun away.  And to this day I am super meticulous about wiping down all the metal parts inside and out.

Although not for me personally, we have had a great season so far. As of today, on our land and my friend and neighbor, 4 great bucks have been taken so far. That's in addition to several new/young hunters getting their first buck and or first deer. I'm not sure what the rest of the season will bring but when the gun season is over I will put together a post detailing the season results. So far it's been pretty impressive.

I originally posted this in the Good Morning thread on Nov 8th, but I thought I would move it over here and update the numbers.

I hunted zone 197:  473 total, with 368 adult male.

Other zones of interest up Nort'...

Zone 172:  770 total, with 603 bucks.
Zone 679 (CWD Management):  1019 total, with 534 bucks.
Zone 169 (Wolf Preservation Unit):  361 total, with 292 bucks.

Zone 197 (Leach Lake Res):  686 total, with 529 adult male.  (500 antlerless permits available, 157 antlerless deer taken so far*)
Zone 172:  1022 total, with 785 bucks.
Zone 679 (CWD Management):  1505 total, with 785 bucks.
Zone 169 (Wolf Preservation Unit):  579 total, with 484 bucks.  (500 antlerless permits available, 96 antlerless deer taken so far*)

*This also includes archery numbers

Last year the total harvest in the state was 172,265.  So far this season they are at 125,579.

I stand corrected.  (Memory ain't what it used to be, and it wasn't good then.  )
169 = 25 antlerless permits (again, why bother)
197 = 500
172 = 500
679 = 1 deer either sex because of CWD, not because there is an abundance of deer.
