Shimano SAhara

Purchased a Shimano Sahara 2500R with the rear drag.  There is Absolutely no way to make the drag work by working any combination of the back knob or arm, it just comes out with almost zero drag.  Took it to two retail stores in the metro ( Cabelas and Scheels) and neither were helpful, at all!
Any hints, suggestions..... on how to make the drag work?

 Never been a fan of rear drag, but i guesse id call shimano directly

You bought it new? Sure would think it would work.  I remember yrs ago Shimano  came out with there " fightin drag" I believe that's what the arm is for, the regular drag is the turn knob. Something is otta whack, you take the spool off and try spraying what you can? I have several Shimano Sedona's that seem temperamental if I don't lube em up.

I had a bunch of those older Shimano's and treated them like crap.  They still work great.  I still have 2 of them on ice fishing rod backups.

Thanks  for the help guys. I thought maybe I was adjusting it wrong or something.  Never had one.  I ha ve a couple of the Saharas and they are honestly my favorite reels.  My sons b ought me a Vanford last Xmas and I know they are expensive.  For the price, the Sahara is every bit as good.

Mr Tom learned something today.
UPS wanted $18.50 to ship the reel to shimano.  No guarantees from Shimano on whether or not there would be  a cost. Got the reel for $71.00 at the sportmans show so I hesitated on spending the money for a "maybe" fix that might end up costing me something.
Figured I would look through the exploded view Steve-O sent me and go from there.  Everything was in order on that end so I just kept puzzling over it, watching how the drag worked and then it just hit me.
I kept coming back to how uniformly the line "slipped" off the reel.  What I realized was, the WHOLE spool of line was just turning on the spool.  I could grab the spool and it felt like drag but grab the line and NO.
 THe line was tied on but with the braid the whole spool of line was just spinning on the spool.  I retied it, put black tape over that and cranked the line back on, works like a charm!

Good you figured it out!! Brings up the point of back filling with mono.

Been der done dat, but i guesse i i new what was happing right way. But good ya figurwd it out. Ive do e the tape trick but usualy wrap it arou d the spool a few time, tie, wrap again, tie again, the spool.
