Has anybody been out so far?  A friend just bought some flocked decoys at Cabela's.  Man do they look sweet.  Have not been out for a couple of years, but the finger is ready for some excercise.  May just have to try it this weekend.

I went out last Friday. I got two, but it was my first time ever and I am still learning the call (I use a cheep mouth call). I made my decoys out of black cloth and used an owl that my buddy had laying around, so I don't have a professional spread by any means. Good time though! If you have any tips I would gladly soak them up! Happy hunting!

Sounds like fun but I'm gonna wait until the season opens in July  to avoid questions on whether or not the crows were about to do damage to my owl decoy.

I tried it once with a cassett tape in a radio.  You wouldn't believe how fast they respond.  You'll have crows coming in almost immediatly.  I did it here at home in White Bear Lake just to see if the tape really works and had about 5 dozen crows surrounding me in less than a minute.  Man was that loud!!  :o

If you want them to stay around and come back after you bag one or two, try the Metro Gun System barell.  I forget who makes it but have been wanting one just for this occasion. Its about 5' long but really muffles the muzzle noise so you don't scare them off.  They're smart buggers.

So what do you do with the crows after you shoot them? Throw'em in the garbage??

I never bagged any.   When I played it here at home, I was just playing the tape.  The one time we tried hunting them, my one buddy didn't take it seriously at all and used his SKS.  He didn't even let them come into shotgun range and emtied his clip.  It sounded like a cowboy shoot out.  The crows flew away giving us "the bird."  :P

Kenhuntin: There are 2 seasons.

"what do you do with them?"

Well... I don't eat them! Honestly I do nothing with them. I am related to many land owners that want me to shoot them because they are a pain in their @@@ So, I know that it is viewed as "slob" to shoot something that you are not useing but, I look at it as a favor to all the land owners that let me hunt on their land. Also there is more corn when there are less crows. So, the cows have more to eat. I'll take the beef, and you can have the crow meat! (some people do eat them. I for one am not one of those people).
