Insulating Ducting

So question for the HVAC/Construction folks...

I have a tuck under garage with two bedrooms above. The bedrooms are fed with insulated flex ducting...but probably not the thickest stuff I've seen. The bedrooms are colder (possibly from other issues as well) and I was thinking of wrapping the flex ducting in more insulation. The garage is not heated.

I'm hesitant to pull and replace the current duct work as that would involve quite a bit of work. I thought I could just wrap the existing ducting with more insulation...

Would this even accomplish anything? Condensation issues? Thoughts or other ideas?

is there insulation between the garage surface and the floor above?

I am building the same setup (although my garage will be heated) but I putting insulation up in there. Plus, I have underfloor heat installed.

On our cabin we used spray foam insulation on all ductwork

When we built new (2013-14) after we retired (2011) when they were going to insulate the attic they said it was only a $1000 more to spray foam it all. Done deal!

Is the ceiling in the garage finished off or are the bedroom floor joist open with the duct work exposed?

The garage ceiling is insulated but no Sheetrock. Exterior Walls and garage door are NOT insulated. The duct work comes out of the house wall into the garage, scoots across the ceiling, then entrees room above.

I was thinking of just wrapping the duct work with insulation in hopes it would help keep warm air.

Sure would not hurt it.   You could also put a booster fan in that duct to move the air through faster.
