Yeah, I watched that. The Badgers had almost as many TOs(13) as they did points (20) at 1/2 time. Another #5 went down when Grand Canyon beat St Mary's later as well. Kind of enjoyed watching Barkley's Auburn Tigers(4) go down to the Yale (13) early too.

Nice to see Bucky went down in flames. Needed Brad Davison back to trip some guys apparently. Watched Purdue have their way with Grambling St. They were lucky they were hitting on all cylinders or the game might've been a lot closer. An off night of guard play and they're in trouble.

A couple good late men's games again yday as Texas & Tennessee was close all game & went down to the wire. Creighton needed 2 OTs to beat Oregon too. The Iowa women hadn't played in 2 weeks & it showed. Clark started slow & had 5 TO's in the 1st period before the Hawks scored 25 in the 2nd to take control. Martin had a double double & so did Clark, with 2 others in double figures. :happy1:

Ah, the dig a big hole in the 1st half Gophers team showed up. Add putrid officiating plus an annoying D-squad announcering crew & it's ugly. Oh well, needed a nap anyway... :coffee:

 Glenn must've stopped watching  ;) as they had it down to 4 with ~ 11 minutes left. It didn't do much good though as Indiana St ran off & hid again by the 9-minute mark.

Sandfort & Perkins went 2/16 :doah: so the Hawkeyes will be sitting home & watching from now on too.  :pouty: Not sure why but Frannie seems to do OK with the portal. Krikke came in this year & I think he's lost 1 or 2 since it started, but generally it's been more good than bad for him.

:oops1: Forgot to mention, Caitlin Clark plays her last game at Carver-Hawkeye against W. Virginia tonight at 7. ESPN has the coverage, if you're interested.

Watched the Iowa game last nite too gunner. Like the Gophers, they just couldn't seem to get over the hump. Playing on the road never makes it any easier.  Even saw Frannie get a little animated. Good to see. Was afraid he was under too much sedation over the course of the season. Ben too has had some success with the transfer portal. Now if he can just keep the nucleus together, they may improve to above mediocre. Overall, can't complain about the Gophers season after they got going. I thought Ben would be fired the way they started out. They were awful. Played decent midseason and fell apart in the late going. Gotta get over this digging a deep hole in the first half crap if they're to be in the mix next season. Play better defense and make their free throws. The rest should come to them.

Wow, tough game. Hawks won it with their defense, outscored 'em by 22 at the line & won the rebound battle too. :happybounce: :party1: :cheerleader:

West Virginia gave 'em a game. IA turned the ball over a lot and struggled on their 3 pt. shooting. Clark had five 3-pointers and the rest of the team had none. Once WV started fouling out tho, you could see the writing on the wall. Clark carried them. I had to look to be sure, but West Virginia was the present MN women's BB coach, Dawn Plitzuweit's last stop before the Gophers hired her. Hopefully she can bring that kind of basketball back here again.

Yeah, those 2 fouled out & they had 2 more starters with 4, as well as 2 off the bench with 4. Clark & Stuelke knocking down those FTs at the end & the team going 25-30 were both big. The Hawks kind of took WV out of their game though as they took more 3s (34) than IA (22) did. Everybody been trying to get real physical with IA & especially Clark going back to the last couple BIG games. That's led to quite a few early TOs for Clark & slow starts offensively for the team. I'm hoping Molly Davis can play Saturday, that would give 'em a big lift IMO.

I read where Bluder thought Davis might be able to go last night. Even if she does play Saturday, I would be surprised if it was > 5-10 minutes. Davis was their main ball handler other than Clark, so if she was able to give Caitlin a break from that 3-4 times during the game would help a bunch IMO. Not to mention the emotional side of seeing her get back out there.

Well, that ain't good. So far, Gophers Ola Josef, Braedon Carrington & now Pharel Payne have declared they're entering the transfer portal. Word is there will be more to come. NCAA  has got to put some rules & regulations in place to stop this game of musical chairs or risk longtime fans such as myself completely losing interest. Ben has a reputation as a good recruiter at Xavier & UNI. We're about to find out how good he is. Mark Coyle: Keep Eric Musselman & Brian Dutcher on the speed dial.

I think the Mussleman/Dutcher boat has sailed.  They had legit opportunities to make enticing offers, but they were too cheap to do so.

Now, in this "wild, wild west" of transfer portal... if you have any semblance of a stable program, why would you want to leave and come to the revolving doors of the U of M?

were these 3 on scholarship?? A good start, would be anyone entering the transfer portal that's on a scholarship should be paying that back to the school they ate leaving . In any sport

May or may not be the case Steve-O although there's been plenty of speculation in Arkansas about Musselman's status following a disappointing 16-17 season.

Pretty sure they were on scholarship glenn and I agree if so. That and perhaps any school that signs one of these transfer portal players has to give up a scholarship and the team that loses one, gains an additional scholarship over and above the one given up by the departing player to help level the playing field. Regardless, something needs to be done. Otherwise, this will just continue to snowball. It's heading towards NBA minor league teams, complete with no defense. Have seen plenty of teams trading baskets so far in both the NCAA & NIT so far. AAU ball apparently did enough damage in that dept. before these kids ever got to college. If it's going to be NBA style ball, no sale. I'd rather watch paint dry.  :coffee:

One more Gopher in the portal: Isaiah Ihnen. No biggy there. He was a scholarship player.
