Nothing beats 90’s garage bands. Nothing!

I’ll listen to 60,70,80’s over todays hits but it’ll never top nirvana, Green Day, STP, foo fighters, weezer, smashing pumpkins, Bush, Live, sound garden, Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, etc.

You old geezers don’t know good music!  🤣

P.S. prince is about the worst music I’ve heard.

I listen to a wide list of music.  Guns n Roses, ACDC, Kid Rock, Motley Crew, to country old and new.  Depends on my mood.  I mostly listen to youtube music so I miss all the commercials and garbage news reports.

I actually listen to other stuff too.  We like Outlaw Country type of stuff when we have campfires.  Some good ol stuff.

Music is personal stuff and I always cut folks a lot of slack on what they like or not.  I think the only thing we can all (or SHOULD all) agree on, is that Rap is crap.  Hip-hop too.   :bonk:

I was in my mid-twenties when Prince hit it big with Purple Rain.  I still think he was one of the world most gifted musical talents that has come along in decades and he was arguably one of the best electric guitarists ever.  Thing is, he had such an aloof personality and so many of his songs were quirky, that I can see why he was not everyone's cup of tea.  I remained a fan, but didn't really stick with all the new music he put our after Purple Rain.  He recorded more than twice what he actually released on albums, and all of that music is locked in his vault, now controlled by his estate heirs.

We ALMOST got a peak behind the purple curtain.  Netflix filmed a 12 hour documentary on Prince, which was supposed to be very will done.  However, when his heirs saw the final cut, they nixed it because they didn't want ANYTHING that might be taken negative said about him.  Too bad, because I think folks would have been more sympathetic towards him after watching, folks who previously discarded his music because it wasn't in their lane.  Like I said, I cut people a lot of slack for what they like and don't like.

If you have the time, check out these videos.  The first is the story behind Prince playing the final guitar solo for George Harrison's "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.  The second is the actual performance.  You may not care for Prince personally, but the talent is undeniable and makes me want to know what they have locked up in his vault.

No doubt very talented.  Just wasn't into his style.  While my guitar gently sleeps is one of the best songs of all time.

Jeff Lynn's guitarist playing the mid-solo in WMGGW with Prince playing the final solo reminds me of the difference between Don Felder and Joe Walsh playing the guitar solos in Hotel California.

In both cases, the first guys were technically excellent, but it was clear after Walsh and Prince started up, that they were playing on a totally higher level - a fluid, slashing style where the music is just flowing out of their bodies and into the instrument.  No wonder Felder had an inferiority complex playing with the Eagles.  ;)

I wish the full footage of Prince's Superbowl performance was available, but between him and the NFL, only snippets are available.
