Anybody ever been to one? There's one coming up in Mankato in May. Thought about going to it just to watch. I don't plan on bidding, I just want to see how it works. Supposed to be over a dozen units auctioned off.
I used to be cute and adorable. Then, I had my first birthday. Been downhill ever since.

So is this where bid on the storage unit itself without knowing what's in it, or do they auction items off individually that you can look at?,

And no I've never been to one!.

No idea. I'm guessing the rules vary by contract.

A relative does it up in Fargo…he’s never come out ahead.

I know there is that show.  It may be a set up for TV, maybe not.  But I didn't realize that there was an actual process of doing it. My first question is who owns the place and who knows what is in those spaces.  Interested as heck.  Keep us posted.

Likely abandoned units being sold by the storage company. Theres a legal process they have to go through before they can sell them. There would be several reasons why people wouldn't pay the rent and just let them go. The most likely reason is it's just junk inside.

closed door auctions and they have them around here..  all I can say is good luck...  coming out ahead is not on your odds..

I went to one once while my wife was down the road at an antique doll auction. They didn’t do a blind auction where you had no idea what was inside—just the contents of a few units that had been abandoned through non payment. Got a fly reel cheap, a portable air tank, and a few other odds and ends. Nothing really big, but some small bargains.

from what i understand........these storage units going up for auction are because the owners arent paying the rent. i'm sure theres some legal process the owner of the storage unit needs to go through before  he can auction it off.

i've seen stuff like that in some newspapers in  the legal sections!!!!!
