Ive seen this floating around for some time, the first picture is not a 55lb pike it is maybe 40 inches at best, the 2nd and 3rd pic is from a pike caught over in Holland and is on the front page of this months Esox Angler magazine and probably 55lbs

pic #1 is not related to pic #2 or 3

that's actually me, I cought it in the apple river.  I had my little 6-pack cooler floating behind my tube and that thing just came up and hammered it.

I believe thats about the 4th different story that I've heard along with these pics, they have been floating around for the last year or so.

The truth is.... I was with BFG when he caught this huge Pike on the Apple River last fall, I witnessed him fight this fish for over an hour, Mayfly, Jiggle, Leech Angler, OJ, Woody, and Fawkinnae were there too, it took all of us to land that pig in the nets.

I saw this pic about a year ago and all I remember is it was caught over in Europe somewhere. He was only 2 ounces shy of a world record. That is of course it was 55 lbs.

Those are two different fish.

The first picture was up on Pipestone Bay of Basswood 3 years ago, and my daughter was pulling in a small slimer that had hit her jig when the bigger one grabbed on.   She took her time, and we were able to snap the pic before the bigger one let go and took off.

The second picture is a fake.  The dimwit supposedly holding the fish put himself into the picture using Photoshop.  If you look close at the finger next to the pinkie under the fish, you will see a rubber band around the finger.  That finger is mine.  The rubber band was from the spare spool on my Symmetre, and I had put it there when I switched spools to my lake trout line.

The fish was actually only 42 pounds according to my De-Liar, and my wife snapped a quick pic as I stood up to my waist on a reef in Knife Lake and hoisted the pig up for a quick photo-op.  It was caught on a Tail-Dancer while trolling for lakers, and didn't fight much on the way in.  Being so far from a cooler, freezer or a road, and not wanting to portage the thing out that night, we released it.  How that pic got out is a mystery - must have been my wife's cousin's friend's uncle who got the pic out on the web.

Just to clear the record....
