Myself and 4 buddies went to LOW of Friday and kept 26 fish, 20 Walleyes and the rest Sauger. The Ice is in great shape and should be 4 another few weeks. We drove our Wheelers out of Morris point and didn't have any problems, We even saw a few Pickups out there and a hard house or two. The shore line at Morris isn't melting yet and the once you get out there the ice is still 36" thick. Almost needed and extension cause the auger was right down to the gear box before breaking thruogh. The bite wasn't hot /heavy but was steady, We started in the A.M at 18' and moved out to 26' at about noon, then visa versa.
On Sat. we hit Red, Ice isn't in the best shape along shore but once past the first 100 yds. the ice is o.k. . We went out of Hillman's and stayed on the plow/snow bank for the first 100 yds, then got off that and drove on the ice. You don't want to drive on the plow bank much past the first 100 yds. cause you'll fall in the crack and get wet. Lotsa Walleys, a few Norterns and Perch but no Crappies. We only saw about 6 other people spread out on the entire lake, it was nice and pieceful. I may go up again next weekend and give Red another try, I know the crappies r there someplace. We then proceeded to stop at Westwinds and celabrate !!!!!!, 5-1/2 hours later and a two hundred dollar bar tab we put an end too a fine weekend. Wheeewww we had fun!!!!
