Kitchen Cabinet Refacing

We are refacing kitchen cabinets and wondering is it absoulutely necessary to use polyurethane when finishing? and if so, is there anyone out there that is in this line of work that could help out doing the cabinet doors?  The cabinets have already been stained. Lookis like we are going to be applying poly to them, not as involved as I though it would be, thanks for the suugestion Mopho'er!

barebackjack, I did that whole job myself when I still lived in Maple Grove. First I just washed down the cabinet surfaces with a solution of warm water and TSP. The good kind before some idiot made it environmentally safe. After they were completely dry, I applied a coat of Minwax, low gloss polyurethane. Just the clear coat, with no stain in it. After that had dryed, it actually looked like it had been done by someone who knew what they were doing! ??? 8) :rock: DIRTBALL2
