Ely lake levels/water temps.

Some information for anyone coming into the Ely area for the opener.
Lake levels have come up slightly, higher than last fall, but still low. Walleyes done spawning about a week to ten days ago, surface temperature on Burntside is 48 degrees as of 8 tonight.
Fortunately, no fires in the Ely area, Gunflint trail evacuated earlier today with the fire reportedly to have increased to 6,000-8,000 acres. Hopefully they get it under control and there is no loss of life or property. Will be giving the opener report next Sunday evening. Good luck fishing, everyone!!

Stop in when you get to town. Lee. I'll give you some info on Burntside, and maybe you can help us get some of those roughfish (Small Mouth Bass) out of the lake. Caught some beauties last August, 17,18,21, & 22 inchers, about a dozen of them in a week.

Gunflint Trail Update. Latest reports have the fire consuming over 16,000 acres currently, wish our Gunflint neighbors the best in a terrible situation.
