Ok, I bought a Moultrie 200 3 mega pixel. I think I will try and put it out this weekend.

PS, I have no idea how to make my own.

I have been trying to think of which one to get also. I think I am going with the Moultrie I40. It has good pictures at night and the newer ones are suppose to be as fast if not faster then Cudde's. I found a good site that does a comparison of game cameras. Don't know if this is against policy here but here we go. www.chasinggame.com . I also went to Cabelas today and looked at the bargain cave to see what was most returned and it is by far the Stealth Cams. I only saw 1 moultrie and it was a older one. That tells me people are happy with them. I hope.

Just a note that if you are going to buy one, try and get one with a no flash.  Last year we had solid proof that  the deer are skeptical of the cameras. My husband was bow hunting above our cudde and he had 3 bucks walk all the way around him leaving him without a shot. Those deer knew the camera was there and didn't want any part of it. Just my 2 cents worth..........LUVNLIFE

How do you know they just knew he was there and it had nothing to do with the camera?

We take ours down a few weeks prior to the season.  Once you know they are in the area there is no need for a camera.  Of course I only saw two deer last year (20 minutes into shooting time).   :whistling:

Hey all fellow moultrie digital camera owners I'm responding to luvnlifes theory on the bucks skirting around the camera that night. I strongly feel that the flash from these cameras do scare the bucks  cause 1 night I had 3 different bucks on my camera at a mineral lick and I never saw any of them all season hunting or on camera notta??? and the place I hunt is very small so I'm pretty sure the deer r just passing through it honestly is no more than 10 acres if that  but here is the kicker I get the same does coming in left and right like clockwork every morning and evening   but by the time prerut rolled around they had every square inch of the place tore up with rubs and scrapes so I know they r there  somewhere and I noticed something odd from time to time  I would get picks at night and there would be nothing on there  slow trigger speed is my guess  oh ya before I forget I spray everything down with scent killer when setting up a camera and when I get done again  so the only other thing I could figure out is that they wise up to cameras location and avoid that area  but I did move it several times...any feedback would be very much appreciated

Suck it up and save your pennies for a year and pull the trigger on a Silent Image camera.  Ifra-red light (no flash) almost video quality, fastest trigger speed, time, date, temp, moon phase and barometer trend.  Put a 1 gig card in there and you can hold 20,000 images.  I have mine set for 3 images in a second, a 10 second delay and then 3 more image.  I clear my card once a week and get between 4000 - 5500 photos.  Many shots of the same animal so you can really see them from many angles.  Also they have a mapping feature to 'tag' your camera locations and store the pics from that area in that tag.  It helps to identify deer year to year.

Watch this video from last fall:

I got mine form A-1 Archery... they aren't cheap!  With the RAM mount, I think I was in the $800 neighborhood.  We glean more information off this one camera than 2-3 others in our group... including cuddies...  Also they are easy on batteries.  8AA lasted me from the 1st week of Oct till the second weekend of Wisconsin rifle hunting (thanksgiving weekend).

Good Luck!
