You may or may not have noticed the banner for the sports forum.  It is for the Twin Cities Adult Men's Baseball League.  If there are any guys out there that would rather play baseball than softball you might want to check out the website.  There are two different leagues, one for 18+ and one for 28+.  To get on a team you can either just submit your name to the free agent pool in the league you want to play in or there are tryouts in the spring followed by a draft.  The tryouts are probably the best way to get on a team since you can show off your skills.  I just started playing this year and it is kind of fun to play real baseball again.

I might have to look into that next year Ryan...  I played fastpitch softball for a handful of years after college baseball was done.  I am bored with slowpitch and am not playing this year due to shoulder surgery, might have to look into it next year.

I don't blame you for being bored with slow pitch softball, that is why I was happy to find this league.  If you played college baseball I'm sure you would get drafted in either league.  I play in the 28+ league, but I did play a game in the 18+ league this spring and I don't think the talent level is much different between the two.  The big difference is that you play more games in the younger league.  Like all baseball if you pitch or catch there is a better chance of someone needing you on their team.

What team?  - NEVERMIND FOUND IT!!! Voyageurs

I loved the fact that they (28+) only play for 3 months and only one day a week (Sunday).  I would love to go back to baseball but the time commitment because of the wife, baby and addition to fishing would limit my playing time.  But since it's only on Sunday that would work out great.  Let me know when / where you play next and if I have some time I will bring the family out to watch.

PS - I sent in my "application" for next year.

We either play in Rogers or Hopkins for the next 3 weeks.  You would probably like the fact that most of the fields we play on are up in your area.  If you really wanted to get on a team this year you still could.  I talked to a guy that we played against last night and it was his first game.  He just sent an email to every team in the league and two of them wanted to pick him up.  It is nice when you have kids that it is only 1 day a week, but we do practice once in awhile, not very often though.

I just started "strenuous" activity the last two weeks (basketball - Horse) and golf yesterday for the first time since the surgery in late January, so playing in the next month might be iffy.  The doctor said 8 months from surgery before they would clear me to play softball, etc.  I have been throwing (light tosses to the dog) for 2 months now and I see the doctor on Thursday for my 5 month checkup.  I have a follow up rehab appointment on July 6th so maybe I can fit in a few games later in the season.

There is one team that you could join and throw left handed and be one of their best players.  I'm not going to mention any names though.  I think I am starting pitcher this week so I might have to switch to throwing left handed after this game.  I threw 4 innings on Sunday and I was pretty sore after that and I can't throw nearly as hard as I use to.  It is hard getting old.

The wife and I have a BBQ to attend this Sunday so maybe I will head out and watch you next weekend.

We have this next weekend off for the all star game, but play in Rogers again the following week.  The team we are playing on the 8th have a really good pitcher.  They played on the field next to us tonight and I heard he had 18 strikeouts.  I don't know if that is true or not, but I remember him from tryouts and he was pretty good.

My ERA took a little bit of a hit tonight, but we still won the game.  I don't ever remember being so sore after pitching only 5 innings.

If anyone here can pitch, there is a spot on my team waiting for you.

Man I wish... I think I have to hang it up for the rest of the year as the shoulder isn't allowing me to throw with any strength.  Hopefully after a year of constant rehab and throwing I will be set to go.

Our games are usually at 5:00pm on Sunday night and we don't practice.  You have to be over 28 to play in the league or at least turn 28 by the end of 2007.

Hey Scott,

If you want to check out a game before you start playing next year, our playoffs start next Saturday.  I'm pretty sure my team plays at 1:00pm in Brooklyn Park.  If you want to go just check out the website for directions to the field, It's probably a 15 minute drive from your house unless you have moved.

We are helping my wife's cousin move on Saturday and then the following weekend I will be on Mille Lacs.  Had some setbacks this late summer so hopefully this winter of rehab will let me play next year. Good Luck.
