I took a neat couple from Brainerd out on the upper Kinni on 4/17.  They're beginners and really caught the fly fishing bug last spring when I took them fishing for the first time at the lodge.  As D.A. mentioned on another thread, the warm weather and lack of rain made for some tricky conditions: lower water and crystal clear.  The trout were spooky, rising sporadically and bulging, so we wound up settling on caddis emergers behind EHCs, swinging wets and running lime green larvae patterns under tiny indicators.
Fun day, but the weather was far too nice.  BWOs didn't make an appearance.
On Tuesday, 4/18, I FINALLY got my buddy's stepdad out.  I think he's about 77 now and he and my pals mom used to be triathletes, so this guy is in wicked shape!  He took up fly fishing just a couple of years ago and he loves it.  It was cool to offer some pointers on stream and witness him work out some kinks with the cast and line control.  You're never too old to give this fly fishing a whirl! ;)
