Well Kyle and I woke up this morning at about 7 am, we really were not thinking that the fish would be biting because of the cold weather and the wind that has been blowing for the last few days, but we had a nice Crestliner that needed to float. Kyle and I got all the gear ready including the Fishhawk and took off on the lake. Last night the fishing was horrible. We tried a couple of different spots on the lake and we ended up with one crappie and a couple of bass, not very much happening.

Here is one of the Crappies I picked up the first night:

Here is a 12 or 13 inch bass that was a lot of fun on the light tackle and Ultra light.

So in the morning the wind was still blowing pretty hard out of the Northeast, the spot that i caught the crappie and bass was behind an island which the wind was blowing into so the other side was calm as glass so we sat there for about an hour and didnt even get a bite. So I had two other spots that we were going to try. One was in a bay and the other was off a christmas tree we have marked on the gps last fall. We headed over to the bay first.

On the first cast my bobber went under instantly. It never slowed down after that. We were in 9' 5" of water. I was using red crappie delights by JB Lures. We were fishing around 4 feet off the bottom. We had a field day fishing the crappies for the 2 hours of fishing that we did. It was a great time. Nothing like getting out in the boat for the first time of the year!

The females were still out a little deeper, but we were looking for some fish for a fish fry tonight with some buddies back home, so we chose not to move out deeper and look for the females.

Here are a few shots from this morning.
