Hello All---  I have a deck at the cabin up north that I am planning on turning into a screened in porch.  The only question that have is framing in the roof.  I do not of the dimensions (height and width).  I am wonderinf if anybody knows of anyone that maked trusses or if anybody thinks that it may be easier just hand framing the roof.  The roof is going to go from a new wall, back to the cabin and there won;t be much of a slope, so I know that it won't be a common pitch.  Thanks!!

it is an easy frame .  find an old carpenter up there  and ask for some help. he will sure love  to . or  hire the frame out .  and do all the finish work yourself. itsounds like a shed roof  and those are very easy to frame. good luck   i hope this helps.

I wouldn't recommend installing anything under 4/12 pitch unless you are going to invest in a rubber membrane roof. It is really not difficult to frame in a gable roof you could precut the rafters at home. they are way more appealing and you could then have a cieling fan for the still hot times and room on the wall to hang trophy fish. If you had approximate measurements I could check my span tables. Shed roofs are not cheaper when you figure in something about 12 foot will look bad in about two years and usually junk in five years.Because of snow loads and the way dimension lumber flexes twists and bows. Engineered I joists would be best on a shed

I'm just gonna frame them in by hand when the time comes.
