Check this out!? I don't think it is a scam... It's posted on the Red Lake Band's newspaper link.? ?

http://www.rlnn.com/ArtMay06/NonMemberThreateningFishRLIsStateConsOfficer.html

This is a Game Warden.? He is the Game Warden from the 80's in Waskish, so he and the band have a past... He is also a very intelligent guy (many degrees) and has studied treaty rights and such.? ?He feels his position is accurate.? This could get interesting real quick!? I'm thinking PERM may have to get active again to help defend this poor soul if he goes through with it...? Word has it he has tried to get this info out to newspapers and talk shows and no one wants to touch it.

I for one do not envy him and what he will have to endure both publically and personally!

Even if this turns out to be the case, and he is correct, would you want to be one of the first "white" guys to fish LRL based on this decision?? Something tells me they wouldn't give us a hearty handshake and hello when we show up!? How are they going to turn around a couple of generations of mindset if this turns out to be true?? ?Stay tuned...

Ken

I'm no lawyer, but it seems he's done his homework. He also seems to have some good questions. Questions I wouldn't mind hearing the answers to myself. He most likely won't get a reply and the only other way to get the answers he's looking for is to fish lrl.

I'd also like to know where all the funding came from for the restocking efforts that have been going on at Red Lake over the years.

Not too hard to find the source of that money, just go look in the mirror.

Actually the majority of the money for the stocking came from the band and the BIA. ?The state paid a portion based on our acres of the lake. ?I know ultimatley the bands money is ?from your federal tax dollars, but I'd rather see it go back into stocking a lake than stocking some undeserving, inner city, recipient's pocket of my hard earned coin!

I agree. I would much rather see my tax dollars spent on the restocking effort. I guess my concern is what if it's netted to damn near extinction again? ...another state bail out? I think if federal and state dollars are being spent, then the entire lake should be open to everyone. What's the harm? We are still only allowed 2 fish.
