I am just curious where my fellow MNO's are deer hunting and who you hunt with? fudd.gif

Last few years I have hunted in 3B, 338.  I have always hunted with my old man, and usually a friend of the family and/or a uncle.
This year my dad and I are hunting 4A, 449.  We are hunting with a couple of my dad's old buddies.  I think their will be around six people in the party this year.  It should be a good time.  The only thing I am not excited about is when someone shoots a deer I am going to have to drag it out for those old GEEZERS! :ROTFLMAO:

I'll be spending most of my hunting time in 601 (Metro) with bow hunting.  For fire arms, I'll join my (former) Pastor and some buddies from that church up in 168.

Hey TMT, you better start getting some younguns into your hunting party cause one day we'll all be old geezers.   ;D

Last year I hunted just SW of Hinckely with my cousin at his Dads place. This year I am Bow Hunting in the metro and not 100% where I will be for the firearm opener. I do about 90% of my hunting with family and that is how it is for my friends that hunt. I have other family that hunts up in the Nevis area. I hunted there for a few years.
I was in on a potlatch lease but withdrew just because with my work schedule I never had time to go up there and hold up my end of the bargin. Before that I hunted in Taylors Falls. My first year deer hunting was in 1996 with a shotgun in Taylors Falls.

Grute where will you be in 168, what town would you be near. I hunt on the very east edge of it north of nashwauk. Makes it hard as i have areas to hunt on both sides of the line. We were down to 4 in the party but that is growing now with grandkids getting started, should be 9 or 10 this year.

I normally hunt 4A-463 (Waseca County) have been for about 18-20 years with my Dad and a couple of close friends.

This year, however, I will be hunting 1A-104 (URL) with Outdoors Junkie and his clan. He has been inviting me up for the past 4-5 years and this year it is finally going to work out with vacation time to take him up on it. I can't wait for deer camp to arrive this year....

We hunt 4A - 416.  I usually get the multi-zone buck tag, and a couple of years have hunted 4B as well, and sometimes head up to Ely for the last weekend (and a chance to pull out the old .300 Savage and prowl around the woods).

Our hunting group now consists of myself, Jackpine Jr. and Lil Ms. Jackpine, and my father in law.  Our usual partner for 4A from the Land of Cheese and Beer has bowed out this year.  He's heading to the Caribbean for Pirate Week instead.

A sad misplacing of priorities, but he seems to think that there is salvation to be found laying on a sunny beach with a cold one.  I reminded him of all the opening mornings we've spent clinging to an icy tree stand in a gale-force wind; the late-night wanderings through cattail sloughs with a flashlight, tracking the "end-of-the-day" deer; the day he stabbed himself in the knee while gutting a deer, and all of the other fun we've had over the years....  He just laughed and said "Aaaaarrrrggghh, I'll hoist a rum in yer honor!"

Hey Mayfly, where in the Nevis area?  I used to bowhunt years ago, put the bow away when I bought my first english setter.  It was all grouse and pheasent hunting till I got sick of sittin out bird hunting while the crazies chased deer around for two weeks during my favorite time of year...so a friend talked me into joining their camp about 10 years ago.  His dad has passed away, but they have hunted the same public land in zone 245 for about 60 yrs.  In the last few years we added two rookies, and one is bringin his 10yr old son up and is havin em sit in his stand with em this year...pretty cool seein him gettin so pumped up...Yeah Mayfly our deercamp is in the Paul Bunyan St Forest, 20/25 miles north of Nevis, its nice up there and its cool to see the same folks there every year, then their kids start going, and every one checks in with each other throughout the week...Grouse hunting will always be my favorite pastime, but that week in deer camp is right up there.  Were all gettin amped up big time! ::dancinred:: party2.gif ::rockon::     -thunderpout happy2.gif

I'm in the Metro area, I hunt 2 properties in Afton, 1 in Stillwater and another in Medina. I stay in Afton 99% of the time though, we've been hunting this property for 20+ years.

My father and my brother both bow hunt all season up there. The last I heard my brother got a decent doe with his bow so far this year.

I will be in zone 2 section 243. I have family there and joined them last year and will probably hunt there forever. We all saw a ton of deer and if i remember we all had a chance of shoot deer. I passed on a small eight and a couple others passed on other small bucks. My wifes uncle too a 10 point that dressed at 240lbs. So i will be back again only this with my wife for her first year deer hunting!!  happy2.gif

Hey Mayfly, where in the Nevis area?

I swear I responded to this post ???

Anyways, the land that we leased and is still leased my my Aunt and Uncle is just north of Nevis and west of Spider Lake near a Buffalo farm. Know where that is? There are some nice deer around and a lot. My uncles cabin/house is located right in town on Deer Lake.
