Awhile back while I was bowhunting,  I saw a big buck with 4 does over the hill on the otherside of the cornfield.  I waited and then a doe came under my stand...so I shot the doe a little behind the vitals.  While I waited for the doe to expire 30 yard down the hill,  I waw the group came by 50 yard down the valley thicket.  It didn't look like a buck to me...it looked like a lab size fox with darker hair.  And as it move through ....all I saw was two dark fox-like tail...followed by the does.  This thing was black in color and not the tan of a deer.  Never could figure that one out.  That was also the biggest buck that I've ever seen in MN too.

last bow season i was in my stand about 45 min. before sunset and i started to rattle a pair of deer horns i harvested the year before and about ten min. later two timber wolves came trotting by my stand, one was all full of blood looked like it just got done eating something very bloody, one was walking streight and the other was doing a zigzag pattern wile keeping up with the other one, i think they herd me rattleing and thought they would get a easy deer cause they would be busy fighting, the two timber wolves ending up laying down no more than 60 yards from my stand,  by this time it was getting dark and they were howling for a long time, i was thinking how many timber wolves attacks have there been in minnesota, plus were i hunt i didn't think they came down as far as were i seen them, by onamia, so i started to climb down my stand, they seen me and they stood up wile looking at me, seem like an hour but it was only a min. or two , wile looking at me growled at me and showed me there teeth and walked a way. so all the way out of the woods i thought i was going to be timber wolf  main course meal, chris

Oh my gosh, I can't believe you actually got out of your stand...!  There is NO WAY I could have ever got out!!  I would of stayed in that tree with my gun loaded (i dont bow hunt) until either someone came looking for me or until I thought they were long long long gone!...especially the bloody one!  I'm SURE I would have froze right to my seat, because I know I would have peed my pants on first site of the "bloody wolf"!  I sure hope I NEVER see anything like that right next to my stand....yup, that would probably do me in!

Thanks for the recap though!  ;D

I,ve been bowhunting for some time now but the one thing I will never forget happened a few years ago. I got into my stand way before the sun came up and it was jet black out. I could barley see my hand in front of my face. So I'm sitting there 22 feet up a tree and out of nowhere a frigging night hawk ,owl or some other bird with better eyesight than I decided my face looked like something to eat. The bird hit me so hard it bent my glasses and knocked my hat off. I had talon markes on my forehead and ended up with a eal nice headach. The perils of hunting. But I would'nt trade it for anything

When bow hunting a few years ago, a couple came into the woods nearby on an ATV. They unpacked a blanket and started to remove clothing, not aware of my postion just a few yards off the trail. The devil on my left shoulder told me to watch what was about to unfold, while the angel on my right shoulder told me to say something. The angel won out and I coughed, and the people started to get dressed rather quickly. The got on the ATV and took off still not knowing where I was. After they left I almost fell out of my stand laughing.

I had something like this happen. They were a bit away but close enough I could recognize them. Couldn't see just enough to know what was going on. The angel on my left shoulder won out as I wanted to have a bit of fun mentioning it to them later in the week. That was the fun part and I made it sound like I was in the tree right next to them. Fact I did say if she'd have opened her eyes she prolly could have seen me up there. Now this 17 yr old kid was more than just embarrassed. While I was asking him who his friend was his dad came up to me and asked for the rest of the story. I had no idea his dad was eves dropping but the kid did. Well a week later the kid come and said thanx to which I replied what for. He said Pa sprung for a box of condoms. BTW his pa is my cousin.

he caught a mouse or mole and ran off

i watched a group of guys chase a wounded deer in circles around my stand. the deer would run for about a hundred to 200 yards ahead of them and lay down until they got close and then get up and run again. it ran right under my stand and i could see a little bit of blood on the snow so i shot it for them even though it was a small doe. they were prety happy since i saved them from alot of walking and the kid that shot it ended up getting his first deer. i was kind of bummed though because i had 5 guys gutting a deer right under my stand and my morning of huning was ruined.

I don't blame you for being bummed, I bet they sure appreciated it though!  :happy1:

I know I will lose some credibility with some of you but here goes. Remember a few years back there was a sighting of a large black cat of sorts Up HWY 8. Well I was hunting in Taylors falls and I seen this thing in the woods it came just as fast as it left but I did see it.

So on the way home I called my mother who hunted the land also to tell her what I had seen and she reminded me that it was in the news the week before. I had totally forgotten about it until she brought it up. I think if somebody told me the same story I would think they were seeing things but I know what I saw. Monster quest did a show on this cat and said it was just a house cat. Well let me tell you that must be a big dam house!

I have talked to people from both Northern and southern parts of the state that swear they have seen VERY LARGE cats.  It is silly to think that with our healthy deer herd there wouldn't be at least a few of these predators wandering the state.

This summer my wife and son were out the morning after our hayfield was cut and saw a cougar. They were hanging clothes on the line and the cat was just over 100yds away and didn't care that they were out there. Makes ya worry about the little ones a bit. The neighbor lost a young cow last summer a couple hundred yards from where my wife saw this one. Something took it right by the bale feeder. All we could find was a big blood stain and part of one hind leg. Must have made alot of noise cause the dog went crazy in the house about 4:30 that morning. When I let him out before I left for work he bee lined straight for it.

just last year i was in my stand and it was exreamly cold that day with the wind in my face so i was about to go back home when 2 does came out and i didnt want to sit any longer so i shot one of them but as i got to it to gut it i looked over and about 300 yards out was a huge buck, all i seen at first was a huge rack. i stood there for a while watching it (i didnt shoot cuz my cousin was over in that direction) and the next thing i know i heard a shot and it dropped. i met up with my cousin shortly after to find out it was him that shot and it ended up being a 13 point buck. i was happy for him but disapointed that it wasnt me.

I saw two kids and a dog come running down the trail last night when I had two nice does working their way in towards me.  the deer promptly ran the other way.  what can I do, they were on their other property.  I stopped at that house later on to talk to someone to let them know I was hunting down there... but no one was home.
If a gun kills people then I can blame a pen for my misspells?
