What area were you in? I am heading to Brookings area for 4 days on the 29th. Never been to SD, any thing special I should know? Hoping 4 boxes of shells are enough!

Wow.  Were these wild birds, or on a game farm?

UPDATE:  Oh, wait, that must be a typo.  Did you mean 15 (wild) birds?

I meant 75 birds for the five of us.  I also would never hunt a game farm unless training my dog.  We were hunting in the redfield area.  I would also say 4 boxes of shell should be enough depending on how many birds you are planning to shoot.

If it is as windy as it was today, you may want to double the shells. I hunted after work today and the gusts had to be in the 40 mph range.  Two of the roosters we flushed hit the jet stream and were gone before I could even shoulder the gun.  We did corner one later that had to jump straight into the wind and basically stalled out for a nearly stationary shot.  I would error on the safe side and bring at least 6 boxes, you never know you may have to help out your partners.  Three boxes of steel 2 shot and three boxes of copper plated lead, 4's or 5's should get you through 4 days.  I have hunted the Brookings area before, good country.
