Pheasant movement

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of what the pheasants would be doing with this colder weather that moved in.  Are they gonna be holding tighter, on the move or out feading?

Yep...get off the cut feilds, go to the lower cover...as in creek/drainage ditches, marshy swamp type cover.  Wherever you may find cattails....did I mention to look for cattails? Its the late season cover pheasants go to when the crops come out.  Its really nice when every thing freezes up good so you can get to those "islands" that the birds moved to, to get in their feelin safe mode....     -thunderpout

Geez....yeah thats a reeealy good one, especialy when ya have a bunch of snow,  the base's of pine trees, under the boughs...I 've had a dozen birds kick up out of em more than once....like an ambush!     - T-pout

my partys are still getting there birds but we have to work for them. seems like once you find them there is 5 to 15 roosters bunch together.

Dude, this is the kind of information that should be acquired, not given away freely by some wanna make a dime with ads  promiscuous guide.  What's next?  How to shoot six pheasants in one day and feign stupid if a CO catches you?  Why don't you just publish GPS coordinates of public hotspots.  Write a book.  You'll probably make more money, and you can use a pseudonym.

If you go back and read all of his/her posts, you will notice they are all very negative against MNO and the staff. My guess is they are only here to stir the pot and see how much they can get away with.

wow them birds are jumpy  and bunched together i must have seen 100 birds  most 200 yards ahead getting up for no reason.

They can see your orange I think better than you can.
   If you spook one most all bail.
This time of year you can spot them against the snow way better than early season. Perhaps it is not new behavior but we just can pick out the early bailers better.
  Granted they are congregated more.
 This weekend from my deer stand in the cold I watched them come out of a big cattail bog when the sun was up and by 9:15 they were headed back in. One of the guys in our pheasant hunting party claimed two birds busted out of the snow in front of him and that was at 2:30 in the afternoon. COLD COLD COLD

Im pretty sure he thought that because Mayfly, Rem and I said to hit the catails, the lowland marshes and evergreens, that people would now be movin in on his secret swamp with a pine tree....that can be only one place...& I think I know where it is...and I'll bet there are tons of swamp chickens in there!      sorry...that was wrong... Its not like we told every one a great lake and a hidden sunken island and then gave the GPS coordinants or somthing, Geez!    -thunderpout

We got 12 birds this weekend most came from the bottom of drainage ditches. Easy walking and perfect points. great late season weekend!!!
