I was out there Saturday evening. There were ATVs running back and forth from Mahtomedi Beach out near the peninsula. I found ice that was anywhere from 5 to 8 inches. It also looked like there was quite a few guys out from Bellaire.

Thanks for the Ice reports

I mainly fish one of 3 areas out there
I usally end up having really great days or bad ones
It is a tough lake to fish

BellAire and the VFW are good spots
I will also  fish the north side of the island but for any one new to the lake do not try and go from the south side to the north side
Go on at the Ramsey beach to fish the north side ... seems like Every year some drops through on the east side of the island

I've heard reports of springs on the lake, but I'm not sure where they are. I'm hoping to spend a little more time out there this season(hopefully Friday) and get a better feel for the lake during the hardwater. I know it's a great lake to fish in the spring.

DO NOT go under the bridge to the island or you'll really be UNDER the bridge.
If ya don't know where ya are, go back to da beginnin.

Spring is on the east side of the island and Grute is right stay away from the bridge .. You want to fish the north side go out on that side or you could end up wet
