I have a question for archers.  I have 20/20 vision from 3 feet out but use reading glasses for news paper etc.  I use the drug store ones that you get for a dollar or two.  Most are from 1.25 to 1.5 magnafication.  Without the glasses I can see the target clear but the peep and pin are fuzzy.  With glasses, the peep and pin are clear but the target is fuzzy.  What do others do in this situation.  (don't laugh, you younger guys will be in this situation too some day).

Do you have a peep with two anchor points or three? If you have a peep with three it could be part of the problem the string twists and the peep isn't aligned right. I used to have a lot of problems with this. I went to a peep that has the rubber tube to keep it aligned and no more problems. If it's just hard to see try a "no peep".

You need to practice shooting with both eyes open. Wear your glasses with only one lens!!

mn, i to need the glasses mainly for reading, i shoot with or without glasses. i consentrate on the sight pin and target rather then the peep, i also have a kisser button on the string to help for same anchor point

A lot of guys use kissers but have the string buried in their cheeks wich isn't helping much. Kissers do work but when the string is against your cheek it's not pressing the same every time. It most likely won't hurt much but anchoring your string at the tip of your nose every time is much more accurate.

Hey Deadeye, Toxonics makes one with a magnification lense but its more for longer shots etc.  I don't know of one that incorporates a reading lense but maybe a different size peep or pin or combo thereof would help.  Right now, I have a big peep which makes my view around my pin HUGE.  That might help by getting more light in your view.

I'd say go to an archery shopt and have them switch it out and try different size peeps and pins which also come in different sizes.

Good luck.

OK guys, lots of suggestions here  :banghead: :bonk: . Now I just need one that will work!  :cry: Ya, I know it's nice to have some fun at an old guys expense.   :rotflmao:

Maybe I didn't describe my problem clearly.  Without glasses I can see a fly on a target at 20 yards and tell you which way it is pointing.  The peep sight is aligned and stays that way at full draw.  I am going to shoot indoor target league (hunter class) so I cannot use a magnafying sight.  I am affllicted with the common sight problem experieced by most seasond hunters.  It is often described as "I could read this if my arms were longer".  My old eyes simply don't focus on close objects.  Everything is fine using "reading" glasses which simply enlarge objects.  Unfortunatly the same glasses make things more than a few feet away blurry.  This leads to my issue.  If I don't ware them, the target is clear but the peep and sight pin are fuzzy.  If I wear them, the peep and sight pin are clear and the target is fuzzy.   :tequila;

Univision- one eye sees long and one sees short= it's the rage with boomers. get narrow readers, pop one lens out and with practice your brain will automatically adjust- it has worked for several co workers-

mshs1, I have the narrow glasses and they do work as you described.  However, I don't think it would work to line up the peep and pin with one eye, and look at the target with the other.  This works if you don't need the have everything in the same line of site.

I think a good option for you to do is to talk to one of Minnesota Archery's very good friends Jim Marquart.  He is the owner and operator of True Spot Scopes out of St. Cloud, MN.  He can help you find a lens....(if you are interested) that will best fit your vision.  Check it out at www.truespotscopes.com
