I have the H20C , but I'm getting the expedition because of the compass . You definetly want the color model because it's much easier to see . I heard Garmin is coming out with some really good ones in the spring,so you might be wise to go to Cabelas to buy one as they have a 60 day return policy on electronics.Hope this helps,Hank.

I've also been debating on a potential upgrade, been doing my homework and found these results. I currently have the H2Oc but will be upgrading to the Huntc asap.

Here is a comparison of the top 3 Lowrance handhelds and also the new XOG by Lowrance. Only the main features are listed. They are all in the same price range too.

H2Oc: $270. 16 channel + waas receiver, runs on 2 AA batteries, dual processors, built in map of USA, accepts memory cards (Lakemaster or Navionics)

Huntc: $290. 16 channel + waas receiver, runs on 2 AA batteries, built in map of USA, accepts memory cards, Scout mode for setting perimeters or boundaries, compass, Altimeter, built in microphone for voice notes or waypoints, mp3 player.

Expeditionc: $300. Basically the same GPS as the huntc except the color.

XOG: $250. 12 channel receiver, touchscreen, runs on internal lithium rechargeable battery, turn by turn audio and visual navigation, mp3 player and JPEG viewer, accepts memory cards, better built in roadmaps.

After reviewing all 4, I have decided to go with the Huntc and sell my H2Oc if i can get a good offer. The Huntc comes in camo compared to the Expedition in black. I could care less about the mp3 player, compass and Altimeter, but the scout mode is a great feature.

My opinion on the XOG is that it is very nice for the truck but not the field. It would make a nice GPS for someone who doesn't hunt or fish and just wants it for inside a vehicle, the touchscreen is nice, but not necessary. The one thing i really like is the internal battery feature. The JPEG viewer and mp3 player are accessories that I dont need either. Don't like that it is only a 12 channel receiver compared to the other 3 being 16 channel+ waas. Would make a nice Christmas gift for a my mom or daughter.

I would recommend the H2Oc or the Huntc. It wouldn't surprise me to see Garmin come out with the next best handheld GPS either, my last 3 were garmins, but I didn't like that they did not accept memory cards.

Yes, as long as the card is SD/MMC.

I'm also hearing the internal battery on the XOG only lasts 2-3 hours. Makes sense because it was designed to stay in the vehicle IMO.

i just picked up a lowrance expedition at scheels in mankato "main reason "is they were all out of the h2o c so they were selling the expedition's for the same price $269.99 i couldnt pass it up man the thing is awesome normal price was $299.99

I've been doing a lot of research on GPS units as it's my next thing that I need to pester my wife about so long that she finally says "FINE!" just to shut me up. I'm leaning H20c from everything I have read...I want it for basic nav and points of interest, and to help me get on structure easier on some of the lakes in the area.

NO complaints about the H2O expedition, works great in the boat, the truck, on the sled, on the wheeler, even used it in a cessna a few times.  Its already a couple of years old, and have no need or urge to upgrade to anything.  Just remember to not count on the 2 AA's --will only last one day.  And just because it uses multiple satellites, doesn't mean you will get a signal while deep in a heavy forest.  Good Luck,
