With the temps in the upper 90's most of the weekend, the lake was the best place to be. The only negative part of the trip was the nasty wind, it never stopped blowing.

Every Memorial weekend my family heads up North to Longville Mn, we stay at Little Boy Resort on Little Boy Lake. This year was was one of the best trips I can remember. This years group was me and my 2 kids Hayley (11) and Alex (3) my brother and his twin daughters Brooke and Brianna (9) My parents and my 17 year old sister Jill.

The kids fished and swam most of the weekend, every one of them caught a few Crappies and Bluegills, just enough to keep them entertained in the boat. We stayed in tents at the campground with our spot directly in front of the beach, a perfect spot for the young kids.

My 3 year old had so much fun playing in the sand, walking in the water, eating snacks all day, sitting by the campfire and driving the boat. ;D He told me he wanted to live at the resort.

The highlight of the weekend was catching a huge snapping turtle, i guessed it was at least 50 pounds, it bit my dads bobber and wouldn't let go, he reeled it in and we scooped it with the net. Turtle soup is awesome, if you've never tried it, I suggest giving it a try some day.

With the nasty wind all weekend it made fishing a little difficult, the slab Crappies that are usually in the shallow reeds were still in deeper water and hard to find, they finally started to move into the shallows Sunday evening, these weren't the huge slabs we were looking for but nice 3/4 pound fish.

The Walleye fishing was better than excellent the entire weekend, most fish were on the small side but we did manage to catch a few decent sized Walleyes, the 13-14 inchers were easy targets. We released everything under 14", kept a few 16's and a 22", all these fish were caught on a jig and fatheads in 15 fow.

I highlly recommend Little Boy Resort in Longville Mn if your looking for a very clean, family oriented campground, they have beautiful cabins, a very nice launch and excellent docks. Only 5 miles from Lonville Mn, the fishing in this area is unbeatable. The owners of the resort Troy and Nancy Loren are great hosts and know the area very well. Give them a call if your looking for a nice getaway this summer, tell the Pat from Outdoors Weekly sent you. ;D  http://www.littleboyresort.com
