DNR NEWS – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 19, 2009

Doyle named DNR’s Firearm Safety Education Instructor of the year

Randy Doyle, of Eyota, was recently named the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources’ 2008 Volunteer Firearm Safety Education Instructor of the Year.

"The future of hunting depends on our ability to encourage and educate today's young people to get involved and stay involved," said Colonel Jim Konrad, DNR Enforcement chief. "The one way in which the DNR can be a part of that equation is through our Hunter Safety Education program. It takes a strong team of nearly 4,500 dedicated volunteers to make the program a success, and Randy Doyle is one example of the kind of person we need on that team.”

Doyle has been a firearm safety instructor for the DNR since 1973.
