Bass regulations on Blackwater, Mule lakes to be discussed Sept. 1

Retaining, modifying or removing the catch-and-release regulation for all largemouth and smallmouth bass caught on Cass County’s Blackwater and Mule lakes will be the focus of a public meeting from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 1, at Woodrow Town Hall, 1133 County Road 11, near Hackensack.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) fisheries staff is soliciting public comments on the experimental regulation and whether bass regulations on the two lakes should be returned to the statewide regulation, which allows anglers to keep up to six fish.

People unable to attend the meeting may submit written comments by Friday, Sept. 18, to Harlan Fierstine, DNR Area Fisheries Office, 07316 State Highway 371 NW, Walker, MN 56484. Comments also may be submitted via e-mail to harlan.fierstine@state.mn.us.
