4th antler down today! :party3: :party3: :party3: :party3:

I found three left sides this year in deer beds within 20 feet of one another on the same hillside.  All three were little and rough looking 3 pointers.  Almost like they have very poor nutrition or something.  Very heavy population of deer in this piece of city park with no farmland nearby.

I decided to take a photo of all the antlers I've found in Iowa in the last couple years.  The ones on top the couch were found in the Decorah area, the ones on the seat area from the Cedar Rapids area, and the ones on the floor were found in SW Iowa on a friends land.  7 sets amongst them.  A total of 40 in Iowa so far plus a few in MN and WI.

Found my first complete set on 02/02/08. Needless to say I did a happy dance in the woods. My hubby said all he herd was I got one, then seen elbows and butt going thru the brush. Then I noticed both the antlers laying about 6 feet apart. Talk about an adrenalin rush.  We have shed hunt for years. I have found one side or the other but never both.  Hubby has found a few complete sets, but this was my first.  Just had to brag.

Does anyone know of a shed hunting club in MN?

Picked up this little guy today.  Been skunked on several outings lately due to the deep snow.  I found this one in the grass high on a hill top in what is known as goat prairie where all of the snow had melted off.

My brother and his son went out on their first shed hunt of the season yesterday afternoon.  They came up with 7 of them.  With the flooding last year, several fields of corn went unpicked allowing deer to feed in them all winter.  All of the antlers were on a grassy hill within 50 yards of the field.  All were single sides so far.

A friend of mine picked this nice set up today, just as they lay in the photo out in a hay field.

My brother Errol picked up this nice shed today, across the road from his house.

My brother has found 12 already this year.  I snapped a photo of the 11 he could find at his house last night.  Another friend found 6 this weekend bringing his total to 11 this year.  Nothing in 2 weeks for me, but I only went out twice.

Really nice.  I spent half a day out on Saturday but didn't see any.  I just walked some field edges and a couple trails.  Did see around 25 deer, none had antlers.

Well I have looked three different nights and different places and have yet to find anything.  Just wondering if anyone has found anything in the last week or if it is getting to late with the other hungry creatures lurking in the woods???

I just got back last night from visiting a friend in SW Iowa.  They have a large tract of private land and have picked up over 200 so far this year.  One set scores 209" with two major tines broke off the right antler.  The left antler scores 120 inches by itself.

I took out another couple of nice ones for a picture.

This is the buck the owner killed last year along with his 2005 sheds.

I was out yesterday and didn't find any sheds but I did see a VERY large bodied buck less than 50 yards from my stand.  He was bigger than the 230 pounder that I shot in november.  He looked very healthy.  WE watched him for 10 minutes and then snuck back out.   Only 7 more months until the deer season
Anything that is free is worth saving up for.

I found my 7th of the season on Sunday and my 8th this evening.  Getting pretty chewed up by squirrels by now. :banghead: Shouldn't have waited so long to go looking again...
