Some are starting to go bad so my brother is prepping to can most of the tomatoes we have left today. Pretty sure that we haven't had fresh tomatoes this late in the season before.......... ever. :happy1:

He did 3 qts & 4 more pints later that afternoon. Still enough to almost cover the bottom of his box out in the garage yet though.

I believe i watered the garden the last time yesterday, jalapenos are still coming but the tomatoes have really slowed down.  I tried 4 plants of Brussel sprouts this year, they each had several hundred little balls on em, but to me it wasn't worth it. Anywho won't be long until we can sketti sauce..

With all of the good ideas and inspiration that is on here we canned 8 pints of pickled beets and 8 pints of pickled green tomatoes.  So now how long should we wait to attack them?  3 weeks? Longer? The beets were given to us but if they turn out we may plant them next year.

Our local ASCS or whatever you call it gives these out free.  When it runs out they will refill it.  Comes with a few pages of info too.

You can just rub this on the plant above the ground and it will kill them too.  We wanted them gone so cut then dabbed and burned.

Are buckthorn and wild grapes and raspberries related. I've got tons of the raspberries and grapes in my grove I'm working in.
I used to be cute and adorable. Then, I had my first birthday. Been downhill ever since.

It is more common here than I thought. .  TT  we have grape vines here too.  I was just thinking that I am going to cut them and dab the ends of them too.  This dabber has a cap on it so I just put it in my hoodie pocket.

We have lots of raspberries. The problem is the birds like them so they end up spreading the seeds around everywhere. Doesn’t cause a problem if it’s somewhere that gets cut with the mower, but they end up in every crack and crevice all over the place.
Got grapevines, too. They have a spot near a power pole and really climb all over it. I keep after them so they don’t end up like kudzu down south.

[/quote I was clearing part of my grove earlier this year. I found a grape vine so thick, I had to use my small chainsaw to cut that sucker.
