How many turkey hunters use the Guillotine?  My son was telling me that those broad heads cost about $25 and are a one time use.  Do you replace the blades or is it really a complete loss after one shot?

You replace the blades. They are good for about up to 20 yards. I have never used them yet but I know a few guys who do. They take the head right off.
If today was perfect. There would be no need for tomorrow.

Is this the blade you are talking about?

The video that Tim put on here is good but there is a better one on the Double Bull videos. They show about 10 to 15 turkeys that they show with the head that come off and you can see it fly off.

You can get a 3 pack for about 40 bucks.  A bit more spendy.... but how cool is it to take a turkey head off!

I bought some last season, I put them on my arrows. I was my fault for not thinking it through. See, I use an over draw on my bow and the blade hit the bow when I drew it back. I bought a few longer arrows for this year, and I'm gonna try them this time.

I don't know if it will effect my arrow flight with the longer shaft.
They are carbon arrows in both lenghts. One being around 6 inches longer than the other.
(I'd have to measure them for sure)
They seem to fly fine with the feild tips, but my buddy that was standing next to me while shooting, said he could see the longer arrows wobbling when they were shot. (maybe cause we were drinking a few beers too)   :rotflmao:

Anybody have any input?

i experimented with arrow lengths, not for these broadheads, because i havent gotten into turkey hunting...yet. but longer arrows do wobble a bit, not to much and if lets say its a 20 yard shot or less you shouldnt have any problem. just when it was a 30 yard shot or more is when i ran into some problems. arrow wasnt hitting where i wanted it to and were the site is sited in. seemed to go were ever they pleased, i did shoot a group with in 7 inchs but for these broadheads the main idea is to cut the turkeys head off and thats a small target.just my thoughts

I guess I don’t know why you would experiment with longer arrows.
How much longer?
If the best you did was 7 inch at 30yd’s I would wonder if it’s not something else? what would you normally shoot at 30yd’s

As for the guillotine, I would imagine it is made for a close shot

i normally shoot a 2 1/2 to 3 inch group. just kind of did for the fun of it to see how it was affected. not to shoot at anything but targets. up to 5 inch's longer just curious was all, i bout a couple cheap arrows. i was just saying what i recored and seen. i dont know if it was anything else, because i shot normal arrows after and shot just fine. 1 to 1 1/2 inch groups at 20 yards, 2 1/2 to 3 inch groups at 30 yards and 4 inch groups at 40 yards.

made for shots under 20 yards is what i was told anything longer and you get some tail whipp...

As for longer arrows and a 7 inch group at 30 yards?? id say you need to pratice more. the longer the shot the more you can see human mistake..or a porly tuned bow.

I group my arrows the sameway at 40 as i do at 10... i think to be good you have to be out there every day shooting. not just 2 days before season. If you shoot 24 arrows a day at least 5 days a week you will see major improvments.. and way more kill shots hitting where you want them to... kinda starts to become second nature.

Buckhuntercody,  One thing you want to take into consideration when shooting longer arrows is that the longer the arrow the weaker the spine.  If you did not switch spines that would explain the differences in accuracy.  One of the most common mistakes bowhunters make is thinking that their BOW is out of tune.  Check your arrows and make sure they are specifically spined for the bow weight and length of the arrow.  P.M. me and tell me the arrow you shoot, the length, and bow poundage and I will do my best to help you find an arrow that you can shoot at a longer length.

Don't be discouraged with a 7" patters.  And for all you who think thats bad, take a tape measure out and mark a 7" circle.  It's about the sized of a cereal bowl.  Cody, your not that far off man.  You just keep on shootin'.

lol the longer arrows were just experimental i am not changing my arrow length. star i practice up to 5 times a week. i know better than anyone that you cant perfect something without working at it. "success only comes before work in the dictonary" quote from Don Shula.

I can keep mine in a group, about the size of a soup can.
It doesn't matter at 20 or at 40

But, because of my over draw, I thought the heads with the longer arrows, they would fly different.
