I'm with SS on this one.......even when I go out rifle hunting with my kids, I only bring my .357

For me, bow hunting is the best.....

But spending time with my kids is better.

You bring a good point to mind that I heard a few years ago.. The guy was talking about people just taking any shot at a deer weathered it be a good one or not, kind of the brown and down theory...

He was saying that anyone who was serious about being a good hunter should start off bow hunting. Due to it teaches you patience’s and shot placement and you are up close and personal with the animals and you can learn a ton by just watching them.

i agree with both of you, all though i do hunt with a rifle a shotgun and muzzleloader i prefer the bow. as star stated it teaches you alot, shot placement, patience etc, and another thought what would everyone think if the dnr closed the GUN season and only opened it every few years do you think that bow hunting would sky rocket? well maybe not all guns just all of them except muzzleloaders.

LOL if they did that it would eliminat all the people that should not be hunting. but then the deer would explode in population and you would have to set a plate at your table for big EDDIE

lol yeah that would happen but it would be interesting none the less, maybe everyone will buy a muzzleloader then lol you never know and im sure it wont happen but i say in like 8 years or so there wont be anymore rifle season it will be shotgun and muzzleloader, due to all of this development

I only go rifle hunting for two days for deer but I can go almost three months with my bow and the kids. I do hunt some small game with a bow but most small game I do with a rifle. I like getting out in the woods with my son and watching the deer get close to us while bow hunting. With a rifle you can shoot them so far away. When we go out and hunt with our bows  it is so much fun watching the eyes on the kids when they come in so close. Also with bow hunting most farmers will let you hunt on the land because they know you can only shoot short range. So I would say I like bow hunting more.
If today was perfect. There would be no need for tomorrow.

I would much rather hunt with my bow but  by the time rifle season rolls around it is getting to cold for these old bones to pull the bow. Come rifle season I pick up the rifle or handgun depending on where I will be hunting.

Most definitly the bow.

I go up Nort wit da boys for firearms every year but the only thing Im counting on is a lutefisk dinner  :chef:  and some good comaradery  ;D  back at camp.  OH and seeing many deer from the inside of my truck.  I rarely even SEE deer during firearms.

With my bow however, if I don't see one or more, I wonder what's wrong.  I almost always at least SEE some and usually have some good chances.  This last year, I really improved my chances and ended up with 2 deer by hunt and one more by a mercy killing (that one was given to a friend) all 3 by bow.
If ya don't know where ya are, go back to da beginnin.

Can't say for sure.  Last year I hunted with bow, gun and muzzle loader.  Each has a place with me.
P.S. I also threw a rock at one but don't recomend it as an effective way to kill a deer.  :party1:

I did the same last year dead eye. My first year with the bow and I killed 2 deer so right now it's my favorite. I enjoy being out there, all alone in the big woods, with my muzzleloader but haven't even seen a deer that late in the season so I have a lot to learn.
It's a nasty truth, but those who seek to inflict harm are not fazed by gun controllers. I happen to know this from personal experience."
