I have a mix of Remington,Mossberg and Marlins. When I bought my Sons guns I bought him all Remingtons. All have served us very well and I have no regrets of buying any of them.

I got marlin, winchester, remington, glock, colt, mosseberg, ruger, h&r, s&w, savage, tc, knight, and the list goes on (just off the top of my head)...........I'd have to go look.

Each one has a purpose, and some are for show, ..........which, would be a purpose  ;D

Well I don't have my favorite YET but I'd like to get a Winchester lever action - the old cowboy style with the straight stock at the grip.

I have a variety but I have the most Remingtons so I guess it's Remington by default. :fudd:

Before this past deer season, I had a Remington 30/.06 7400 semi-auto.  Don't get me wrong, it was a good rifle that served its purpose over 10 years and 20+ deer but as it got older it really started jamming (A LOT!)  I said "no more of this" and invested in a Browning 30/.06 BAR with leupold 3x9 50mm scope.  I shot at 2 deer this season and dropped them both.  One was on a dead run across a corn field about 200 yards, right through the liver/lungs (a little far back) but fell within 30 yards.

As it stands for my shotgun, I have had a Remington 870 Express Magnum for birds.  It has been a great gun for me, but I am looking to upgrade soon to a Benelli ( i figured since my dog's name is Benelli, I better get one!) :fudd:

Okey Dokey, I looked..........I wanted to make sure of the whole name.

My favorite gun would have to be.....(drum roll)..... a .38 Oliver Johnsons Arms and Cycle Works.

I found this gun in a wall, during a renovation of a apartment building.

It's in rough shape, but the sedimentale value is great.

My best friend, best man, owned this building and I helped him with the work.

He gave me the gun just before he passed away.

BirddogBenelli, the seems to be a common complaint against the Rem 7400 auto.  A friend has one, a few years ago it started going full auto.  Pull the trigger and you don't know if you will shot once or empty the clip!  It was quite exciting that year.   :party1:

We have Remington, Winchester, Mossberg, Ruger, Marlin, Henry,Taurus, Squire Bingham, and a couple of department store brands that might be made by Savage.

Hard to pick a favorite.

.22: I love the Henry but the Squire Bingham was the first gun I ever owned. Got it when I was 11.

Shotgun: I love the Ruger Red Label but my old faithful Mosberg 500 is always near.

Rifle: I love my Remington 742. Had the 700 BDL but preferred the auto.

Handgun: I really love my Taurus .357 mag revolver. I believe it is model 66SS6 but not sure off hand.

So a favorite brand for me is impossible to nail down to just one.

I have a Rem 7400 and the only jam I had is when I tried to shoot 220 grain ammo with the flat nose through it. I have never had any other jam with it. So I would say that I like this one. Never done me wrong yet. Have had it for about 8 years or so.

Give it time, I had mine for about 10 years before it started getting bad.  i would average about 2 boxes of shells a year (sighting in & hunting,) cleaned it every year.  It started off jamming every so often; then it got to the point where I didn't want to shoot becuase i thought it would jam right away.  congrats on not having any issues, I just hope you are still singing that tune in 5 years. :fudd:

I have a few guns of different brands. Each one has a place and purpose. I don't have an automatic rifle other than a ruger 10/22 for plinking, nor will I ever own an auto rifle for anything else. It is accurate but does jam now and then as does every other auto made on this planet. I have a saying "There are 2 kinds of autos, those that jam and those that will." It's a simple matter of when you have more moving parts there's more pieces to fail at there function. Also I feel they are more accurate with less moving parts.

Guess my favorite would be a Savage as I have never heard of anyone having a bad barrel with one. Also they make more of my favorite action than the other makers, the simple old break action. Next would be a bolt action. Over half my rifles are break action, the rest are bolts. Only two hold shells other than in the chamber, those would be my savage 270 and my marlin 22 mag. Some have argued with me about what if I miss and need a second shot. I just tell them if I miss it's MY fault not the guns.

Rifles:
Deer hunting...Winchester Model 70 Featherweight  Caliber- .270
Elk hunting...Winchester Model 70 Featherweight  Caliber- .300 WSM
Shotguns:
Waterfowl hunting...Benelli Super Black Eagle 12 Guage- Polymer
Upland hunting...Browning Citori 525 Field - 12 Guage

They all are my favorites, with each having a specific purpose.

HB your much tougher than I as I used to have a model 70 feather weight 270 caliber. It kicked a heck of a bunch more than my winchester 338 mag. The thought of anyone shooting a featherweight 300 WSM is enough to make my shoulder pop out of it's socket. Don't get me wrong the one I had was a good accurate rifle but I'd just as soon lug an extra 5 lbs up and down a mountain for a few weeks as squeeze the trigger on another featherweight.
